Today, we're proud to highlight another exciting IQT 25 for 25 company! In 2015, IQT invested in Anaconda (fka Continuum Analytics), a high-performance, Python-based computing and data visualization company. At the time, managing and integrating hundreds of Python libraries was very tedious and a poor use of data scientists’ time. The investment in Anaconda allowed IQT's government partners to more easily integrate large data sets and visualize them in a more impactful way. #IQTat25

Today, we're proud to highlight another exciting IQT 25 for 25 company! No one knows data quite like MongoDB, which is precisely why IQT invested in the company in 2013. Even then, it was clear the role big data would play in national security applications — the practice of intelligence is fundamentally about understanding the world, observing trends, and anticipating threats. Data, as we now know, is a key tool to understand economies, population dynamics, logistics, and so much more. MongoDB created tools that enabled users to store, code, scale, and operationalize data in a way that would advance mission critical requirements. The company's success at a top tier NoSQL database led to it going public in Fall 2017. #IQTat25

How did IQT help the U.S. Navy find a solution to improve next-generation navigation in challenging environments and cost-constrained platforms? Today we're proud to highlight our investment in ANELLO Photonics, a company providing technology for navigation and localization in global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-denied environments. Combining Anello's cutting-edge silicon photonic optical gyro technology (SiPhOGTM), IQT's strategic guidance, and NavalX’s invaluable testing and feedback, Anello's navigation solutions were successfully integrated into unmanned vehicles to evaluate navigation without GNSS. Today, we're proud to highlight another exciting IQT 25 for 25 company! At the time of IQT’s initial investment in Mersive Technologies in 2012, high-definition visual displays were still hardware-centric and only accessible from a computing platform physically connected to the equipment being used. Mersive’s technology helped transform IQT’s government partner’s ability to access high-quality images automatically and continuously without using specialized hardware and support personnel. Thanks to Mersive’s innovative software, government users were able to share visual information from multiple remote devices in a co-located environment, or across local or wide-area networks. #IQTat25

Today, we're proud to highlight another exciting IQT 25 for 25 company! As cyberattacks became more numerous and more sophisticated, defenders needed new capabilities to cope with the threats they faced. In 2009, FireEye’s innovative approach to automating malware-hunting used virtual machines to spot attacks mounted by nation-state actors and their proxies that standard intrusion-detection systems missed. FireEye’s technology was adopted by multiple IQT partners and has been widely deployed across government. The success the company subsequently enjoyed in building its commercial and public-sector business led to it going public in 2013. #IQTat25

What is data feudalism? 🏰 The concept of "data feudalism" refers to the increasingly controlled nature of large language models (LLMs) and the data required to train them. Initially, vast amounts of public data were freely available, but now, much like land in a settled wilderness, significant portions are being zoned off and tightly controlled by a few major tech companies. The ownership and control of data have become contentious issues, with significant implications for privacy and data quality. Massive data sets are needed to train LLMs, and the quality of these models is highly dependent on clean, well-curated data. However, data scarcity and the potential for "recursive pollution," where AI models are trained on already outputted AI data, pose significant risks. Despite the challenges, smaller, specialized models and open data initiatives offer some hope for a more equitable and scientifically robust future for AI development.
