As we're wrapping up Climate Week, I was impressed by how much nature came up in the sesssions I attended and the recognition that nature and climate are inextricably linked. The most awesome session I attended this week was a discussion with Dr. Jane Goodall hosted by Deloitte. She underscored how much we can learn by simply observing nature and seeing the solutions that nature has developed to challenges over millions of years. I also was able to participate in a great discussion hosted by McKinsey & Company on the complexity of nature and the challenges of measuring impact when you're dealing with a complex system. At Inari, we embrace these complexities--both in the development of our multiplex-gene edited products and in how we think about our impact on the food system. We believe that this perspective is necessary to achieve sustainable long-term solutions that enable a thriving planet, food security, and farmer well-being. It was great to catch up with Seed World United States at the recent NAPB, National Association for Plant Breeding meeting, where our own Computational Biology Director Karl Kremling had a chance to dive into what makes crop genomes so complicated. He explains: “Less than 5% of a modern crop genome is actually genes. The rest are called intergenic regions, and these are what govern when and where genes are expressed—essentially, they are the switches that turn genes on and off.” Watch the full interview to learn more about the keys to unlocking the full potential of seed.

Things are growing here at Inari. Today we marked the grand opening of our new 42,000-square-foot facility in West Lafayette. More than doubling our greenhouse space in Indiana, the $20 million expansion enables us to accelerate the development and commercialization of our step-change products to meet market demand.
