Inc. Magazine reposted this
Award winning investigative reporter and editor who created the Netflix series Rotten and the podcast series Computer Freaks
Humbled and inspired from my conversation with Todd Carmichael founder of La Colombe Coffee Roasters today at the #inc5000. Heard some great words of wisdom about the REAL challenges of running a business - even one that he was able to build up and sell for $900 million to Chobani last year. Biggest takeaways: 1. Realize most founders aren't honest about how hard the journey and there is NO work life balance in founder mode. 2. Founders are like boxers who are constantly getting punched and getting back up again. It's a unique role that people don't always talk about. 3. When you are ready to sell the business, REALLY weigh the pros and cons because you are working away from the business family you have spent your life building. 4. When it comes to your actual family, it helps to choose a spouse who is a pillar with you in the journey of life. Super excited to see what's next for Todd Carmichael with his new beverage company and soda he just announced called #hydropunk. Thank you to all of my amazing colleagues Inc. Magazine who made today happen. From Helen-Ashley Gamba who organized today's session to Sara Deeter and Brian Contreras who jumped on the news about hydropunk!
