✨ Wrapping Up the INDEED Project – and the Journey Continues! ✨ Last week in Warsaw, we celebrated the successful conclusion of the INDEED project, where the European Forum for Urban Security (Efus) was proud to be a key partner in this remarkable 3-year EU-funded project. Throughout the project, the innovative '5I' framework (Identify, Involve, Innovate, Implement, Impact) guided us in delivering crucial tools such as the Universal Evidence-Based Evaluation Model (EBEM), E-Guides, Digital Repositories, practical evaluation tools, tailored training and policy recommendations. These resources, now part of a multilingual Toolkit, will continue to empower different stakeholders in designing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based initiatives. But this is not the end! The knowledge, tools, and network we’ve built through INDEED will continue to foster future collaborations and further strengthen the culture of evaluation in our ongoing projects. A huge thank you to all consortium members for your dedication, especially the Polish Platform for Homeland Security for their outstanding coordination, and to my amazing Efus colleague, Anne Boisseau. It was also wonderful to connect with new practitioners and policymakers from various institutions and cities during this event. Looking forward to continuing the journey together !

IS THIS THE END, INDEED? Today I shared my insights at the #INDEEDFinalEvent in Warsaw: 🧩 INTEGRATION WITH EU Knowledge Hub on Prevention of Radicalisation Yesterday we learnt from the European Commission how #pcve #evaluation is among their key priorities for the next programming. The EU Knowledge Hub on Prevention of Radicalisation ought to use the INDEED methodology to: ➡️ Measure and assess its own performance as a project; ➡️ Contribute to the drafting of annual programming/global agendas; ➡️ Implement it with specific #deliverables i.e. tailor-made support services. 🧱 CREATE AN EXCHANGE PLATFORM e.g. LinkedIn closed group FOR THE COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE Let's seize the momentum and keep the conversation ongoing to share insights, events, opportunities but also ask for support from colleagues. ⚡ USE OF INDEED METHODOLOGY AS AN EVALUATION CRITERION FOR THE INCOMING #CSEP In the next weeks, it is expected that the European Commission releases the new call for proposals for the new generation of the Civil Society Empowerment Programme (CSEP). Asking consortia to respond to this criterion would ensure that they include iterative evaluation in their initiatives and develop an evaluation mindset. 🎯 EVALUATION SHOULD FOLLOW A STRATCOMM APPROACH A #stratcomm mindset would ensure that evaluation : ➡️ Focuses on changing #behaviours within orgs; ➡️ Is #participatory; ➡️ Helps orgs promote a constructive narrative, by mitigating the weaponisation of the results; ➡️ 's results are utilised. 🛤️ PUBLICLY RELIABLE #EVIDENCE There is a need to develop common indicators to assess the extremist/#radicalisation threat at the national level to develop a EU-valid methodology. #Quantitative and #qualitative data shared by public authorities on the #terrorist/extremist threat as well as on public perceptions, if made public, nail policymaking to evidence and reduce the risk of political swinging.
✨The third and final day of the #INDEEDFinalEvent has started with the session “Mapping where we started for – gaps and needs in the field” moderated by Marzena Kordaczuk-Wąs from Polish Platform for Homeland Security. Speakers: 🔹Arif Sahar, PhD, CENTRIC Sheffield Hallam University & Pedro Liberado from IPS_Innovative Prison Systems Voices from outside: 🔹Antoine Baudon, Ph. D., International Centre for Counter-Terrorism 🔹Giulia Dino Giacomelli (she/her), GDG Inspire 🔹Cezary Mecwaldowski, Central Training Centre of Prison Service 📹 Today all the sessions will be live streamed on our YouTube channel, make sure you follow along ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dEzZbpvF

📍🌍 We were proud to be present at the INDEED Final Event and the 2nd International Policy & Practitioners Forum, focusing on advancing evidence-based policy, practice, and evaluation in P/CVE, deradicalisation, and crime prevention. Happening from September 11th, the 3-day event brought together nearly 100 experts, practitioners, policymakers, and evaluators from across Europe, marking a key milestone in shaping the future of these fields.🔄 Our very own Chief Research Officer and Radicalisation Prevention Portfolio Coordinator, Pedro Liberado, represented IPS, moderating a 5-expert panel on creating infrastructure for evaluation, learning, and improvement, and presenting IPS research on mapping gaps and needs in the P/CVE training field regarding evaluation, highlighting the report authored by Sara Afonso and Patrícia Évora Neves. 💬 In Pedro’s words: "This has been a great, challenging, and groundbreaking project that is now coming to an end. It’s encouraging to see the Consortium's efforts have made a real impact, with evaluation now featured in the 'EU’s Strategic Orientations on a Coordinated Approach to Prevention of Radicalisation 2024-25'. Although the cultural shift towards integrating evaluation practices won't happen overnight, it's clear that it’s a necessary change – and one that will have to come sooner rather than later." 👏 A big thank you to all our partners in this initiative. What a great experience on the panel "Addressing the evolving landscape of radicalisation and violent extremism in Europe" at the 2nd International Policy and Practitioners Forum of INDEED. It was an honor to share the stage with such brilliant colleagues and to present our research from FUNDEA- Fundación Euroárabe de Altos Estudios on innovative societal approaches to preventing radicalisation and violent extremism. In addition, it was a pleasure to meet and exchange such interesting thoughts with many professionals on the field these days in Warsaw and to learn more on evaluation approaches and trends for P/CVE policies. Hope that the legacy of the project goes beyond its ending at that we embrace and foster a culture of evaluation and accountability for public policies.
