Juneteenth, which celebrates the end of slavery, is being observed tomorrow, Wednesday, June 19. We recognize this day to honor its historical significance and promote unity and inclusivity in the community and within our workplace. On this day in 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Union soldiers landed in Galveston, Texas, and announced the news of the proclamation to enslaved African Americans there. This was the last area within the United States to learn the Civil War had ended. The legacy of Juneteenth demonstrates the value of remaining hopeful even in times of uncertainty. It was great to see so many associates participating in the Juneteenth Parade and Festival this past weekend. Thank you for showing your support for this pivotal event in our nation’s history.
