More than 4,800 students will venture out to an Indiana State Parks property for a Discover the Outdoors field trip this school year. Those students are participating in a milestone year with a program high of nearly $25,000 expected to be distributed! Indiana DNR’s K-9 officers and their handlers save lives and protect Indiana’s natural resources. In our latest impact story, we join some of the talented officers for a training day and learn more about the nationally renowned program. More than $1.6 million raised, 821 acres of public land acquired, and more than 500 acres of habitat created. Since 2012, the Northeast Indiana Conservation Partnership & Preservation group has supported the INRF and DNR in increasing public land and improving outdoor recreation. In May, the group gathered with dozens of friends and conservationists to continue fundraising efforts, ultimately raising more than $200,000. Happy Earth Day! It’s been an exciting spring for conservation so far and today is a great day to continue celebrating our wonderful outdoors! We’re gearing up for yet another year of tree plantings as part of the Indiana Tree Project. Indiana's forests are growing thanks to the continued support of our Indiana Tree Project partners and donors! Bowles Mattress is the most recent partner to join the effort of promoting healthy Hoosier forests. Thanks to a grant from TC Energy, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry has a new UTV that will help create and maintain healthy native habitat at Martin State Forest! The UTV will serve as an important resource for managing the growth of invasive species such as Japanese stiltgrass, Japanese honeysuckle, and multiflora rose. On a picturesque November morning, volunteers from CLIF Bar and staff from the DNR Division of Forestry gathered at Greene-Sullivan State Forest to plant 3,000 trees.
