James Whitcomb Riley has been rebuilt stronger! 👏 This was the first ribbon-cutting event celebrating the completion of a construction project made possible by the district’s #RebuildingStronger Capital Referendum which was overwhelmingly approved by voters in May 2023 to support facility improvements at 23 IPS schools, including James Whitcomb Riley.

IPS' development of a comprehensive counseling program to address the social, emotional, behavioral and mental health needs of students has received a financial boost from Butler University. The district’s Postsecondary Readiness Department was awarded a $100,000 Comprehensive School Health Initiative Grant from Butler University to fund the project, “Rebuilding Stronger: Expanding Comprehensive School Counseling Programming in Indianapolis Public Schools.”

Today, IPS Board of School Commissioners approved Rolonda Gardner to be the principal of the IPS Therapeutic Day Program (formerly known as ROOTS).

IPS announced today that Ashley Cowger will join the Executive Leadership Team as the Chief Systems Officer. Today Deputy Superintendent Andrew Strope visited Global Preparatory Academy, a dual language school that is a part of the IPS Innovation network teaching grades pre-K through 8. Using both English and Spanish to instruct students in all core content areas, students at Global Prep develop high levels of bilingualism and biliteracy, as well as a deep value and understanding of other cultures.
