The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) has enlisted the assistance of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering (ISHE) to distribute a Scope of Work to design firms in order to solicit interest from firms that are interested in providing plan review services to the IDOH. Well done, Franciscan Health of Lafayette!!! These fine folks hosted our Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering chapter yesterday and gave us quite the program! We learned a great deal about how Purdue University has launched a Healthcare Construction Program to introduce the next generation of professionals. And we were thrilled to have so many students in the room with us! Next, Edwin Frieden took the crowd on a journey of what stress is, how we deal with it, and focusing on what we CAN control. We appreciated his vulnerability in sharing some real life experiences that changed his outlook on life and dealing with uncontrollable circumstances. Great job, Edwin! We heard all about the new Cancer Treatment Center from the team at Tonn and Blank Construction and how it all came together to begin serving patients next month! Matthew Klok, CEM®, CBCP®, CEA® wrapped up the day by giving us a presentation on how electrical controls can change how the use and control of energy and power are applied in a hospital setting. Some great insights and information! Along with our fine programming and speakers yesterday, we’re always glad to have time for authentic connection over lunch, coffee breaks, etc. This is a special group of people lead by this year’s President, L. Ben Stauffer who did a great job keeping things flowing and introducing our speakers.
