Digital. Indigenous. News. A spacious channel for news produced by and for Indigenous people.
About us
Indian Country Today is a nonprofit news site and an independent public media outlet with both digital and broadcast teams. It is a leading source of news about Indigenous issues and provides historical context on how national issues impact Indigenous communities. We are changing the narrative on how Indigenous people are reported on and covered in the news. Although it has been a nonprofit startup since 2017, it began as a newspaper, the Lakota Times, in 1981.
