PJM’s capacity auction results have caused a lot of concern for consumers across the board. Due to the significant increase in pricing, First Energy has informed FERC their customers should expect to see an 11% - 20% price increase depending on their location. This increase will take place starting June 2025 for most consumers. In an effort to help curb this increase and solidify the market moving forward PJM is working to delay their next auction. This is an effort to rethink the current market design, according to PJM officials. However, groups such as American Municipal Power feel this delay will only cause more problems. Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report (10/24/2024) came in high with 80Bcf net injection for week ending October 18th, whereas consensus estimates were for a 61Bcf injection. The strong injection number put downward pressure on spot natural gas, down about $.05 since the report was released. The high inventory is attributed to the unseasonably warm weather across the bulk of the continental US. #IfninityPowerPartners #NaturalGasStorageReport

It's no exaggeration to say that Winter Storm Uri has caused significant disruption in Texas since 2021. However, one positive outcome has been the increased focus on grid reliability in case of future disasters. This article highlights a new project that aims to connect the Texas power grid with the Southeast, providing added protection during emergencies. The project would create a direct line to transport nuclear power from Mississippi to Texas when needed, and send surplus wind and solar energy from Texas eastward. While there are numerous obstacles to overcome, this initiative marks a promising step toward improving grid stability in Texas during natural disasters. Energy News: #Microsoft and #Constellation are going to restart Unit 1 at Three Mile Island. The project is expected to come online in 2028, producing 835 MW or 7.31 TWh/year. That’s a big number! If this project can be rolled out successfully it could help further improve the public’s opinion of nuclear. Recently, US nuclear suffered a major blow with the most recent nuclear expansion at #Vogtle [in Georgia]. That project was hit with delays and cost overruns. https://lnkd.in/eCyecG2g #NuclearEnergy #CleanEnergy #ThreeMileIsland #EnergyBroker #InfinityPowerPartners

While most projections show an expected increase of close to 20% in energy demand over the next 5 years, the Mid-Atlantic is primed for over 60% increase, according to ICF and Black & Veatch. This area's sharp turn is a direct result of one of the country's most outdated grid infrastructures. These grid demands are often over estimated as we continue to become more efficient with our energy usage, but these numbers will still significantly impact your commercial energy costs. The critical infrastructure updates will most likely come at the expense of the consumer over the next several years, resulting in a current and future increase across the board. We recommend looking into locking in longer-term contracts for most parts of the country to remove one piece of unpredictability regarding your energy spending. To learn more about the rising demand nationwide, read the article below. https://lnkd.in/gUXzsik8 #EnergyDemand #GridInfrastructure #CommercialEnergyCosts #EnergyConsultant #EnergyBroker #InfinityPowerPartners

Hurricane Helene has gained strength, as predicted, with sustained wind speeds of 110 mph. The system is expected to continue gaining strength as it moves towards Florida, making landfall Thursday. Not much has changed with the forecast other than total rainfall, which has been reduced. This is due to Helene’s trajectory - travelling at an impressive 16 mph. Wind and storm surge are going to be the biggest issues with this system. Current forecasts are showing up to 20’ of storm surge in some areas. Stay safe everyone. #HurricaneHelene #SeverWeatherUpdates #EnergyConsultant #InfinityPowerPartners
