Continuing on expansion of my Accounting Today article "What accounting firms can learn about talent management from tech vendors" (https://lnkd.in/gnXv74Rt). If you missed my Part 1 thoughts, catch it here (https://lnkd.in/gnpASHnJ). Now let's talk about Part 2... 🔄 Cross-Training as the Untapped Superpower in Accounting Firms 🔄 When team members can flex across multiple domains, magic happens. I'm going to embarrass some of my Aiwyn A-team here and call them out :) as examples: 👨🔧 Joshua Rudd - who can move seamlessly between product design and product management, which enables him to bring a holistic perspective that elevates our solutions 👩🔧 Elizabeth Kirchner - many of you know her as our strategic partnership lead who brings a very strategic thinking of our ecosystem. Behind the scenes, she is often executing on events and diving into IC work that intersects marketing, which brings brings synergies to both. This point was echoed at the recent Botkeeper #AI Unchained conference panel "Walking a Tightrope Between Evolving Technologies and Traditional Accounting Practices" with Geni Whitehouse (Information Technology Alliance (ITA)), Angie Grissom (The Rainmaker Companies), Michael Maksymiw, CPA CGMA MSA (Aprio Firm Alliance), and moderator Gail Perry, CPA (CPA Practice Advisor). We discussed how accounting education still lacks crucial data literacy components - a gap firms must actively bridge through internal cross-training initiatives. Because think of the synergies when: ➕ Compliance + Data Analytics = Strategic Risk Management ➕ Tax Returns + Business Strategy = Proactive Financial Planning ➕ Traditional Accounting + Emerging Tech = Internal Innovation What unexpected skill combinations have you seen create magic in your firm?
