Hurricane Operations Update: Almost five weeks after Hurricane Helene devastated the southeastern United States, thousands in North Carolina remain without power, safe drinking water, and reliable communications. Our crews continue to provide connectivity at hundreds of locations along the storm's path from Florida to Tennessee -- bringing Hope to many who lost everything. #CommIsAid #Volunteer

After my first deployment supporting Hurricane Michael I was hooked. ITDRC provided the opportunity to serve others in a meaningful way that I had been looking for after my military career. I started serving as the Region 7 Director covering Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas. It has been an amazing experience to serve my local community during these difficult times. We had several Spring tornadoes and historic flooding in Iowa. We were able to provide critical communications and IT support within 24 hours to multiple impacted communities. This team really stepped up and supported me when I had an emergency leg amputation earlier this year. Others filled in and took care of things while I was out, but as soon as I was healed, I was right back into running operations across the region. I love what the amazing volunteers at ITDRC do, so much so, not even a missing leg can stop me! Chris is currently responding to Hurricane Helene and Milton and is aiding survivors across multiple states. #Volunteer #HurricaneMilton #HurricaneHelene #CommIsAid

The height of hurricane season is upon us, and one of the biggest challenges responders will face after a storm is the loss of communications. In an effort to prepare for an inevitable outage, ITDRC partnered with CRS to provide backup satellite internet capabilities at two dozen locations in Southwest Florida. #CommIsAid https://lnkd.in/gPwEhKXv

In September of 2017, the Dominican Republic was hit with a deadly category 5 hurricane, named Hurricane Maria. Maria damaged or destroyed a staggering 95% of the DR's housing stock, leaving more than 60,000 in the northern region of the country without power. We recently completed a resiliency project in the DR to help ensure hospitals are able to maintain reliable communications after future storms, reducing recovery time in the Caribbean #CommIsAid

OPERATIONS UPDATE: ITDRC has received more than 50 fire related resource requests this year, and continues to support multiple fires with connectivity for first responders and incident operations. The Oregon Department of Forestry is reporting wildfires have burned more acreage in 2024 than ever before. Our support for the Falls Fire recently passed the 6 week mark, as firefighters near the finish line with 95% containment #CommIsAid
