🚨 New Webinar Alert 🚨 The treatment of an extravasation, the inadvertent delivery of a vesicant into the tissue around a vascular access device (VAD), is a source of patient harm that is under-recognized, under-reported, and thus likely ineffectively treated. In this session, we will review vesicant properties and their mechanisms of tissue injury and peripheral vs. central VAD extravasation risks with related prevention measures. We will also recommend extravasation treatment strategies and resources using a case study approach. 🗓️ Join us on September 18 at 1:00 PM 👉 Register at https://buff.ly/46Xauay

Much Anticipated Vesicant Issue Coming out in September! The September/October ’24 issue of the Journal of Infusion Nursing will include 2 important articles, the products of the INS Vesicant Task Force (VTF). The VTF, comprised of clinical experts from many different specialties, initiated its collaborative work in 2021.  “Development of an Evidence-Based List of Non-Antineoplastic Vesicants: 2024 Update” is a collaborative effort of the entire 6-member task force and addresses the concern for extravasation caused by infusates.  “Infiltration and Extravasation Risk With Midline Catheters: A Narrative Literature Review,” by Lynn Hadaway and Lisa A. Gorski, addresses this burgeoning practice area. These resources and tools will serve clinicians in all settings in the years ahead. Don’t miss this very important issue of JIN! If you are not a member of INS, we encourage you to join now to access the many benefits of membership, including a free subscription to the Journal. https://buff.ly/3O5Svnd

Join us in celebrating the Journal of Infusion Nursing’s Increased Impact Factor! INS is pleased to announce that the Journal Impact Factor (JIF) for the Journal of Infusion Nursing increased from 2022 to 2023 by 45% (JIFs for the previous year are announced late each summer.) The JIF reflects the yearly mean number of citations of articles published in the last two years in a given journal, as indexed by Clarivate's Web of Science. The Journal is one of only a few Wolters Kluwer journals whose JIF improved in 2023. We appreciate all the authors who cite the Journal in their scientific manuscripts, recognizing INS as the standard for infusion nursing. Thank you so much for your support! P.S. You can submit a manuscript to the Journal at https://buff.ly/3yPDYun.
