  • Our Master Plan for Aging for the Inland Empire includes a section about education and awareness. One of our goals is to spread awareness in the community (including our youth) about aging, care and retirement planning, financial saving, dementia, how to choose a caregiver, as well as promote behavioral health resources. In addition, we want to spread awareness for resources currently available for older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers to ensure that they are getting all the help and support that they need. • We are “On the Road to Aging Well” - thanks to the hard work of our community! At our 2nd Annual ICA Conference, we discussed the demographic imperative for a thoughtful and comprehensive Master Plan for Aging in the Inland Empire.   Over the next two decades, California’s over-65 population will nearly double, with those aged 85 and older being the fastest growing demographic group. Locally, over the next 20 years, adults 65 and older will experience the highest growth rate of any other age group in the Inland Empire.   A Master Plan for Aging is a blueprint for promoting healthy aging and supporting quality of life. The Inland Empire Master Plan for Aging (IE-MPA) will include recommendations for improvements to Housing, Transportation, Alzheimer’s and all other Dementias, Behavioral Health & Social Support, and Caregiving.   Join the Inland Coalition on Aging to support our efforts - go to inlandaging.org/about to sign up.

  • Our 2nd Annual ICA Conference was a huge success!   Industry leaders came together to discuss the progress of the Inland Empire Master Plan for Aging (IE-MPA). We were proud to share the IE-MPA framework, which includes draft actions for implementation in 2025 – 2027.   With representation from health professionals, nonprofit organizations and government officials from both San Bernardino and Riverside County, the room was filled with expertise from diverse backgrounds all united by a common goal: to better serve older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers in the Inland Empire.   Learn more and stay up to date on our work by subscribing to our newsletter at https://lnkd.in/gtbkvfxV.   If you’re interested in providing feedback on the Draft IE-MPA Actions, visit https://lnkd.in/gTbGZGNn.

  • PSA: It's Long Term Care Planning Month! If you've never heard of this before, this month is about spreading awareness and having important conversations with your loved ones about long-term care planning. This involves planning for medical assistance, basic needs, help with tasks, living situations, and more. Planning for long-term care is vital to be properly prepared financially and mentally, and will give you and your loved ones peace of mind. Start an open dialogue with the older adult in your life about what they want and what they need. #longtermcareplanning #longtermcare #seniorcare #seniorliving #assistedliving #ICA

  • At ICA, we're very passionate about Healthy Aging Month! Our main goal is to promote healthy aging for the older adults and adults with disabilities in the Inland Empire community. Consider this your reminder to practice healthy habits as you age—at all ages! Be sure to encourage your friends and family to do the same. With our Inland Empire Master Plan for Aging (IE-MPA), we aim to help our older and aging populations with a plan to overcome common challenges related to health, healthcare, caregivers, transportation, socialization, mental health, and more. • Our Master Plan for Aging for the Inland Empire includes caregivers. While there is support available for caregivers in the Inland Empire, the need is greater than the current capacity. Our recommendations include: > Organize a program to offer check-in calls to family and friend caregivers. > Help current caregivers to plan for ‘life after caregiving’. > Advocate for sustainable, increased funding for existing caregiver support programs.
