Bon Voyage! 👋 Recently, our team was in Germany outfitting a kayak with a VR2Tx acoustic receiver to help an adventurous citizen scientist track tagged sturgeon along the Danube River. 🚣 His two-month project on the Black Sea aims to raise awareness and funds for sturgeon conservation! 📸 Photo courtesy of Andre Steckenreuter #fishtracking #telemetry #trackingnotslacking

Sometimes, shark bites can be a good thing. 🦈 Here's a throwback to when our own Tyler Sclodnick was working with Dyneema® Cape Eleuthera Institute and NET Systems to develop shark-resistant netting for aquaculture pens. The work provided key insights into improving the durability of aquaculture nets against one of the toughest bites on earth. 📸 Photo courtesy of Tyler Sclodnick #sharks #aquaculture #AquacultureAdvancements

“Through Innovasea, we are developing Al algorithms to allow us to use underwater cameras to sample fish and be able to know the precise size of the fish at any part of the cage." - Francisco Murillo, CEO, Tropo Farms ICYMI: Seafood Source spotlighted how Tropo Farms Ltd. aims to double its annual tilapia output by 2029 and the role Innovasea's technology will play in this effort. https://lnkd.in/eNmvseTg #aquaculture #fisheries #AquacultureEfficiency

How does temperature impact salmon behavior? In a recent study, our own Jennie Korus estimates the optimal temperature of Nova Scotia salmon at 12.7°C. And if the temperature rises? They'll work to avoid these warmer waters. For aquaculture, insights like this are helping us create the ideal environment for healthy fish and shorter grow-out times. You can read more about the study here 👉 https://lnkd.in/emFPU9sU #AquacultureEfficiency #AquacultureAdvancements

Wave energy is the most powerful at the surface. It’s why storms and harsh conditions can quickly devastate traditional surface pens. So, we moved ours underwater. 🤿 With a fully submersible pen, you avoid rough ocean conditions and can reduce wave energy by up to 90%. Going deeper not only extends the longevity of the pen but also: ✅ Boosts fish health - by reducing exposure to algal bloom and surface parasites ✅ Optimizes growth - by placing fish in their ideal water temperature ✅ Improves on-site navigation - by arranging all infrastructure below the surface Check out our blog for 7 advantages of fully submersible pens and how they’re opening more dynamic open ocean aquaculture environments: https://lnkd.in/gDdsQV7t #aquaculture #AquacultureAdvancements #AquacultureEfficiency

We’re excited to share RS Aqua Ltd is installing Innovasea’s environmental monitoring system, aquaEnvironment, to eight additional Loch Duart sites! Now, operators at these locations will be able to leverage real-time data collected from the system to identify and proactively address environmental threats that could harm the health and well-being of their fish. This ability to make data-driven decisions based on real-time water conditions allows farms to take a more active role in their operations. Today, more than half of all salmon farms in Scotland and Ireland use Innovasea’s aquaEnvironment to better monitor and protect their sites. 🛡️ Want to see this technology in action?
