Breaking news: HonorHealth has agreed to assume operations of several Arizona-based Steward Health Care facilities. Starting today, HonorHealth will assume daily operations of the following: 📍 Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa 📍 St. Luke’s Hospital in Tempe 📍 Steward Mesa Hospital – Emergency Room 📍 Florence Hospital in Florence 📍 Multiple affiliated outpatient physician practices “As a trusted healthcare provider and community partner, HonorHealth has a strong track record of patient safety and experience, clinical excellence, and top tier employee and physician engagement,” says Todd LaPorte, HonorHealth CEO. “HonorHealth continues to invest in responsible healthcare development where there is a proven need, and we believe assuming operations of these existing facilities is an effective way to optimize our resources. We’re excited to work with the Steward Health Care professionals to ensure access to high quality, essential care for these communities.” Once an interim transition period is complete, HonorHealth plans to assume operational ownership. Karen Vanaskie was one of case management's brightest and most dedicated professionals. She was serving as Secretary / Treasurer on the ACMA National Board of Directors at the time of her unexpected passing on June 20, 2024. At the request of Karen's family, ACMA has set up the Karen Vanaskie Scholarship Fund. Karen was passionate about the need for case management certification. She actively supported her staff in pursuing the Accredited Case Manager (ACM) Certification. To continue her legacy, this scholarship fund will cover the cost of their ACM certification application fee for those to whom it is awarded. We believe this continues Karen's legacy. We are deeply saddened to share that ACMA lost an important and devoted leader last week. National Board Member, Karen Vanaskie passed away Thursday evening. To say we were shocked is an understatement. Karen was serving as ACMA’s National Secretary/Treasurer and completing her second term as a board member. She was a founding member and board member of the ACMA Arizona Chapter. As an ACMA member for 13 years, Karen served on numerous committees and has been an avid champion for ACMA. Our hearts are saddened, and words are not enough to express how she will be missed. Family and close friends are gathering this Friday to remember Karen. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.

It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of Karen Vanaskie, Innovation Care Partners’ Chief Clinical Officer. Karen has been with ICP since 2014 and played a key role in the development and implementation of ICP’s care management program. She remained an integral part of the care team and a member of ICP’s executive leadership. Prior to joining ICP, Karen was the Director of Case Management at HonorHealth since 2008. Karen has been the heart and soul of the care management team and has touched countless lives through her work and dedication. Her reach and impact extend far beyond her work at ICP, as she was a leader in her field – words cannot express how profoundly she’ll be missed. Please keep Karen’s family and the ICP family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
