  • Remember when everyone thought Microsoft broke the internet? Maybe this was you last Friday: you reboot your computer, and... nothing but blue. You reboot, and it's blue. Nobody wants to be blue... 📋 Below is a quick and dirty checklist to keep your systems happy and your business from grinding to a screeching halt. We now know it wasn't Microsoft (but we couldn't resist the meme). A CrowdStrike update caused chaos, affecting 8.5 million devices. Last week, IT teams worked around the clock. That's hundreds of thousands of people-hours wasted. Whether human error or a cyberattack, the impact on your business can be devastating. So, how can you be ready for the next digital calamity? 👨💻 Here's what you need to survive an IT outage: ✅ Insurance Check: What could an outage cost your business? Chat with your provider or broker to make sure your policy covers these "oops" moments like human error and programming issues, not just cyberattacks. ✅ Business Continuity Plan: Can you function without computers? (Believe it or not, yes!) Have a plan for when technology takes an unexpected vacation. If you need a plan, find a company (like, ahem, InsITe) to facilitate discussions with internal business units to document processes, centralize the information, and keep it current. ✅ Disaster Recovery Plan: Back it up! Don't put all your eggs in one third-party basket. When things go south, you can have a solid plan to restore your IT systems and data. Again, if you need a facilitator for these conversations, we know a guy. ✅ Vendor Due Diligence: Scrutinize your service providers. Do they have robust backup and recovery plans? Don't just take their word for it. 💡 An InsITe insight: 99% uptime still means 3.65 days of downtime per year. That's a lot of lost work. Don't get caught with your servers down. #CyberPreparedness #ITResilience #BusinessContinuity #DisasterRecovery #InsITeSolutions

  • Research shows 80% of businesses are unhappy with their Managed Service Provider (MSP). Are you getting your money's worth with your MSP? Businesses need flexible IT solutions, and MSPs are not designed that way. And it's usually because of 3 main reasons: 💵 Poor visibility into spending 🖥️ Limited software licensing options ✍️ Locked in contracts To top it all off, you're leaving your entire technology strategy up to them instead of someone in-house. Here's why successful MSPs are shifting to a Co-managed model: ⭐ Businesses can save money with flexible plans ⭐ Co-managed models focus on solving business problems, not just technology problems ⭐ You can scale your partnership up or down based on your needs Bonus: ⭐ You stay in control, while you offload all the time-consuming, technical tasks to a team of experts If your MSP isn't delivering, look for a C-MSP instead. #ITServices #ManagedServices #MSP #DigitalTransformation #BusinessGrowth

  • IT Managers ➡️ How often do you update and assess your software licenses? Depending on the size of your organization, it can be a real pain to track (and easy to forget to check) compliance, costs, security, improve efficiency, and support for all of your licenses. But at the end of the day, the reason it's important because you might be paying for things you don't need or use. According to @G2, software takes up 34% of a company's IT budget on average. And in the US, we spend over $32 billion yearly on unused software licenses and services. So let this be your reminder to audit your licenses regularly or find an extremely talented, responsive tech partner to take care of this for you 😜 #ITManagement #SoftwareLicenses #CyberSecurity #ITCompliance #TechTips

  • OK, these results are interesting… It may be a small sample size, but it's still alarming that only about 1/3 of the votes indicated that people use a password manager. When you consider 80%+ of hacking-related breaches happen because a password was weak - or it was stolen (Bitwarden), you might want to rethink your approach to password management. Here are 3 reasons your organization should start using a password manager: 💪 They help you come up with strong, unique passwords 🔒 They let you share passwords securely 🛡 They significantly reduce cyber threats It may seem like such a simple security solution. But then again, it can be the simplest ideas that prove to be the best ones.

It's Monday Morning, and we're super curious… Does your organization use a password manager? 🔑 Aside from the obvious security benefits, it can make sharing passwords quick and easy. And since we know that an alarming number of companies share passwords using email - which is super risky for several reasons - we thought we'd kick off this week with a quick poll. #cybersecurity #security #passwordsecurity #passwordmanagement

  • Brand values should be the bedrock of a company - from Day 1. In order for them to be more than just writing on your office wall, you have to live them. Here are our 5 core values: 1️⃣ Serve Selflessly 2️⃣ Be The Impact 3️⃣ Think Big Picture 4️⃣ Learn & Teach 5️⃣ Practice Integrity Starting with “Serve Selflessly” is no accident. Here's the story behind one of our founding principles.

Founder, CEO @ InsITe | Passionate About Leading and Disrupting. Grateful to Have the Chance.

In 2012, laying comfortably in my bed at 6:15AM one October Saturday morning, I made a vow. My vow was this: If I trust in God's provision and take the terrifying leap to start InsITe (leaving a perfectly fine job for the complete unknown), I would invest that success back into the community. I dreamt that this company would not only be great, but would be a light in the community. It was like jumping out of a plane with a parachute I didn't pack myself… Would it open? Would I end up a pancake? But I believe that the mark we leave on this world is all that matters in the end. So, 3 months later, driven by the dream and a promise, I took the leap. And that's where "I" ended. I could do nothing unless WE did it together. I am so grateful for my wonderful team, and I am so grateful that we have the opportunity to fulfil a promise and a dream all at once. I was not worthy of this. I have been entrusted with it nonetheless. At times it can be terrifying. But most times, it's INCREDIBLE and HUMBLING. Through 2023 and 2024, the InsITe team contributed the equivalent of over 15% of net profit to our community. We did it with joy, we did it with fun, and most importantly we did it TOGETHER. What an honor to be a part of it. Business owners: I promise you something. There is no better feeling than to be a part of incredible impact in our community. There is no better mission than to make an impact and leave a mark on this world. How will you be remembered? I would encourage you to make an impact, it will be the best investment you have ever made. Here's how we did it: 1. Appointed one of our team members the role of community impact coordinator 2. Appointed a monthly budget to our community impact efforts 3. Developed a monthly calendar of community impact events, in partnership with local community organizations 4. Continually emphasized and advocated participation within our team 5. Celebrated the impact on a regular basis A couple of tips: - Scheduling community events during business hours increases participation 2-3X - Providing a "community update" within weekly meetings helps encourage involvement - Including community impact updates at your quarterly or annual meetings promotes further participation Here's a quick list of local community organizations we've worked with over the past year: Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity, Benjamin's Hope, Hand2Hand, Pregnancy Resource Center, Compassionate Heart Ministry, Starlight Shores, Meals on Wheels Western Michigan, Mel Trotter Ministries, Sus Manos Gleanors, Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce (Community Impact Day).
