  • Invitation to Inspiring Asia 2024: Bangkok, Thailand Screening Session Now in its third edition, the Inspiring Asia 2024 Micro Film Festival continues to celebrate powerful storytelling from across the region. This year's theme, "Sustainability," focuses on innovative stories of hope, resilience, and progress, addressing today’s most pressing environmental and social challenges. From 70 submissions across 8 countries and regions, 15-20 films have been shortlisted for the Bangkok, Thailand Screening Session, which will be hosted at CSII: Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation - BAScii Program, Chulalongkorn University. What makes this festival unique is that the audience will play a critical role in voting to decide which films become finalists. Your participation will have a meaningful and direct impact on the outcome of the festival.   • Bringing Back Corals With Bajau Youth Leaders: Aija, Mabul Island | Inspiring Asia Micro-Documentary Film Festival 2023 Official Selection Aija, a young Bajau, cherishes her sea nomadic heritage from the Sulu Sulawesi Seas. Witnessing the devastation of coral reefs due to climate change and harmful fishing, she transitioned from traditional shore gleaning to actively restoring reefs around Mabul Island. Collaborating with local youth groups like Mabul Climate Leaders and Green Semporna, they address marine concerns, especially plastic pollution. A significant initiative involves crafting reusable pads, countering the prevalent littering of disposable ones.   • JRS: Accompanying Those At The Margins | Inspiring Asia Micro-Documentary Film Festival 2023 Official Selection Journey alongside #JRS International Director, Br. Michael Schöpf SJ, as the film unveils the JRS mission to support and stand by refugees and displaced individuals. While touring JRS operations in Indonesia, Br. Schöpf bears witness to the challenges Rohingya refugees endure in temporary camps in Aceh, established in 2023. Transitioning to Jakarta, Br. Schöpf, with local JRS members, connects with families who, escaping camps, now navigate the challenges of urban poverty. While refugees are welcomed in Indonesia, they confront significant barriers, including lack of work rights and social services. JRS’s commitment extends beyond just material aid; they offer critical psychosocial support, underlining their dedication to accompanying and empowering the displaced.
