IEI superintendents and district leaders, along with the Magma Math team dive deep into discussions around interpreting data, teacher retention, and the Spiral of Inquiry Framework #ieifamily. We love bringing district leaders together from around the nation so they can share strategies with each other. We’re also discovering that Sweden faces many of the same challenges within their education system that we encounter in ours! Thank you to Magma Math for hosting us providing experts in these different areas, and for helping to facilitate these discussions. Kelly Coffin, Shelly Viramontez, Jeremy Duncan, Bill Heath, Wayne Vickers, Tammy Williams, Sari Hurme-Mehtälä 👩🏽🔬, Henrik Appert, Mary Roberts, Dr. Melissa Fink, Rachel Ruggieri

Today, Jasmine Cox had the privilege of visiting ABBEVILLE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 60, led by the remarkable Superintendent Dr. Lori Brownlee-Brewton. As part of the 2024 #IEIRoadshow, she witnessed firsthand the positive culture Dr. Brownlee-Brewton has built across the district, where community and innovation go hand in hand. At Abbeville High School, Principal White and Principal Newton gave Jasmine a tour of the state-of-the-art library and new academic wing—spaces designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and lifelong learning. The school’s mission to develop confident, caring individuals is visible in both its modern facilities and the dedication of its staff. Next, Jasmine visited Dixie High School, where Principal Preston showcased the school’s new academic wing and athletic facilities. Dixie’s close partnership with Erskine College offers students accelerated learning opportunities, with many earning career degrees before even graduating. Jasmine was especially impressed by how this rural district provides students with innovative programs that mirror those in more urban settings.Throughout the day, it was clear that Dr. Brownlee-Brewton’s intentional leadership has had a profound impact on the district. Everywhere she went, students, staff, and community members stopped to greet her with genuine warmth—a testament to the positive and supportive culture she has cultivated. It was clear that Dr. Brownlee-Brewton’s leadership goes beyond academics—she has fostered a community of trust, respect, and shared vision. Her approach has helped to not only improve student outcomes but also create a working environment where staff members feel valued and supported. Her leadership, grounded in this rich legacy, has inspired both students and staff alike, creating a district that is truly built on the pillars of tradition, innovation, and community. As a former Dixie High principal, third-generation educator, and the daughter of an Assistant Superintendent , her deep connection to Abbeville is evident in every aspect of her leadership. Despite its rural setting, Abbeville County School District is a shining example of how innovative partnerships, cutting-edge facilities, and strong leadership can empower students and the community alike. Jasmine left feeling inspired by the strong sense of belonging and grateful for the opportunity to witness their success story. Thank you to Dr. Brownlee-Brewton, Principal White, Principal Newton, Principal Preston, and the entire Abbeville community for a warm welcome and for showcasing the incredible work happening here. Stay tuned for the next stop on our roadshow!
