Wetlands provide values that no other ecosystem can. To name just one example cited by the EPA, more than one-third of the United States' threatened and endangered species live only in wetlands, and nearly half use wetlands at some point in their lives. Learn about the Natural World Credit NW1.2 – Provide Wetland & Surface Water Buffers in the Envision Framework. Pursuing Credit NW1.2 is just one of the many ways infrastructure projects can protect, and if possible, enhance, water ecosystems and resources with Envision! ISI catalyzes systemic change in civil infrastructure, with the Envision sustainability framework as the vehicle.
About us
ISI advances sustainable civil infrastructure using Envision® — through education, training and third-party project verification. The Envision Sustainability Framework and rating system is deployed by people and projects throughout North America and internationally and is applicable to every type of civil infrastructure: water, transportation, energy, waste, land/environmental, and more. OUR HISTORY: Based in Washington, DC, ISI was established in 2010 by the three largest engineering associations — the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), and the American Public Works Association (APWA). ISI collaborated with the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design to develop Envision.

The Albany Solar Project has earned Envision Platinum for sustainable infrastructure! The 50-megawatt (MW) Albany Solar is anticipated to generate enough energy to power 13,000 homes annually, and it will serve as a significant source of new local tax revenue both for the Town of Decatur, Wisconsin and nearby Green County. Highlighted sustainability achievements include: · Plan for sustainable communities · Renewal energy generation · Protecting surface and groundwater quality · Improvements to air quality The infrastructure owner, Alliant Energy, has an aspirational goal to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from its utility operations by 2050 through diversifying its energy sources and transitioning to cleaner fuels. This project aims to support that goal by generating approximately 104,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable energy in its first year of operation. 📌 Green County, Wisconsin 🏆 Envision Rating: Platinum ➡️ Owner: Alliant Energy ✅Envision Firm: Burns & McDonnell 👉 More details: https://lnkd.in/ehaD4Y5h #sustainableinfrastructure #envisionaward #sustainableenergy #renewableenergy

The Airside Improvements Project at the San Diego International Airport (SAN) has earned an Envision Gold Award! ✈️ SAN is now the busiest single-runway commercial airport in the nation, and Terminal 1, which opened in 1967 to serve 2.5 million passengers, now serves more than 11 million passengers. The original terminal will now be replaced with a more modern and efficient facility, and the Airside Improvements Project is upgrading the associated airfield infrastructure to support this new terminal. This includes realigning and reconstructing taxiways, aircraft parking aprons, electrical ducts, lighting, signage, stormwater systems, and more. As a recognized leader in sustainability within the aviation industry, the San Diego Regional County Airport Authority chose to use Envision to ensure that sustainable and innovative practices would be integrated throughout the design and construction of the project. By incorporating Envision during the earliest stages of planning, the project team was able to optimize efficiency, resourcefulness, and multi-benefit uses — all principles of the Airport Authority’s approach to sustainable operations. 📌 Project: San Diego International Airport Airside Improvements Project 📍 Location: San Diego, California 🏆 Envision Rating: Gold ➡️ Project Owner: San Diego County Regional Airport Authority ✅ Lead Envision Firm: C&S Companies 🤝 Other Project Partners: Jacobs, RDM International, INC., Burns Engineering, Inc., BSE Engineering, Inc., TransSolutions, Snipes-Dye Associates, Ninyo & Moore Geotechnical and Environmental Sciences Consultants, WEST COAST CIVIL, Inc., PROTEUS Consulting, Underground Solutions, HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc., Griffith Company 👉 More Details: https://lnkd.in/gSmkG2sp #sustainableinfrastructure #envisionaward #envisiongold #sustainabletravel #sustainableairports
