  • He’s a former AFL player, television presenter, newly minted children’s author and Australia’s most charming man. • After years of working in the entertainment industry where she built a platform satirising modern beauty standards, Celeste Barber decided she wanted to take her work a step further. So Barber teamed up with entrepreneur and P.E Nation co-founder, Claire Greaves, to launch BOOIE BEAUTY, creating what she wanted to see in the market: a makeup line that spoke directly to women who she felt were being left behind. “I saw an audience of women who were a certain age, over 35 really, who have been forgotten about and walked over,” Barber told the audience at the InStyle Beauty Summit. Read Barber’s full conversation from our inaugural Beauty Summit here: https://lnkd.in/g6esvgUe

  • In 1486, Sandro Botticelli unveiled his rendering of what would become the OG objectified woman: Venus. His painting, ‘The Birth of Venus’, was the first full-sized nude painted in 400 years and has since been held up as the pinnacle of Western beauty standards (ironic, given her body is anatomically improbable). So who better to reveal the hypocrisy of all that than the trailblazer who’s been pivotal in calling bullshit on our own modern aesthetic ideals, Celeste Barber? For our January digital cover, the comedian, actor, and founder of BOOIE BEAUTY takes on the role of Venus, once again demonstrating why she’s an icon of originality. Over the past decade, Barber has built one of the most distinct anti-celebrity celebrity brands with her tongue-in-cheek satirical posts and commitment to authenticity. There was no one else who could helm our January digital issue, which celebrates our inaugural InStyle Beauty Summit where we brought together the industry leaders and change-makers shaping the beauty industry today. Read Barber’s refreshing conversation with InStyle Editor-in-Chief Justine Cullen about why she felt Booie Beauty was a natural extension of what she’d started with her comedy; speaking to and creating something specifically for the women who have been neglected by the beauty industry here: https://lnkd.in/g6esvgUe

  • If there’s a collective mood of the moment, it’s that we’re all so…tired. It’s no wonder that so many of us are yearning to slow down, simplify our lives, and find ways to feel a little less like our heads are about to explode. Experts are calling it the Great Exhaustion—something they thought we’d gone through in the immediate aftermath of the pandemic, but which seems to be hitting us full force only now. And so, we bring you the 💐September issue💐. Yes, it’s packed with new season fashion and beauty, but it’s also dedicated to taking a pause, making space, and embracing a more effortless way of living (and dressing). With the mesmerising #EveHewson leading the way, it’s your guide to embracing the beauty of slowing down and savouring the moment. Be sure to pick up an issue — ON STANDS NOW! Editor-in-Chief: Justine Cullen Photographer: Tim Ashton Styling: Rachel Wayman Words: Courtney Thompson Makeup: Kate Lee Hair: Adir Production: APRH  Talent Connect Group
