  • Hurricane-related coverage includes more than just flood insurance. Because hurricanes can cause devastating damage to commercial properties, it’s essential to have adequate insurance coverage before a storm hits. Since hurricanes aren’t generally a named peril in standard commercial property insurance policies, commercial property owners will typically need to purchase supplemental insurance policies to cover hurricane damage, including the following: Flood insurance. Flood insurance covers losses directly caused by flooding and can include building and contents coverage. Windstorm insurance. Windstorm insurance protects policyholders from property damage caused by gales, winds and hail. Sewer backup insurance. Hurricanes can wreak havoc on sewer systems. Sewer backup coverage can protect properties from losses caused by a discharge of water or waterborne material from a sewer, drain or sump. While most commercial property policies cover debris removal costs, there may be limitations. Commercial property owners should work with a qualified insurance professional to ensure they have coverage for debris removal and pollution cleanup.

  • At InsureWise our hearts go out to all the victims of Hurricane Helene. If you don't have coverage and your home was damaged by flooding, you still have options. The federal government provides grants (through FEMA) and loans (through the SBA) that may help you repair flood damage to your home and cover certain other expenses. FEMA disaster grants are meant for expenses not covered by flood insurance. Everyone may apply, regardless of income level or whether they have flood insurance. If you have flood insurance, you just have to pay back the grant with your flood insurance payout once you receive it.

  • Did you know, semi-truck insurance protects your business in several ways. A commercial auto policy has various components to shield you from different costs. For example, if you’re at fault in an accident that injures others, the bodily injury liability coverage can provide payment for court-awarded damages and your legal defense costs. If your semi damages another person’s property, the property damage liability component can kick in.

  • Another week, another WiseWeather Wednesday guest featuring Meteorologist Tito! Today in Downtown Prairieville, we are under a flood watch. Thunderstorms are to be expected through tomorrow, just in time for things to clear up for LSU's gameday at home on Saturday. The high over the next 2 weeks is 88, no 90s in our near future! Wont stop me from swimming in the pool all day then tracking water all over the house though! :-) There are 3 tropical depressions being monitored around the Atlantic and the Caribbean. They all have a low chance of forming, but it's best to make sure your storm preparations and generators are in order because you never know what's going to happen with alleged weather reporting. With hurricane season starting to act up again, now seems like a great time to get a quote from us for commercial insurance for your roofing business!

  • Workers compensation insurance is very important! It covers employee medical bills, and some of their wages if they have a work-related injury or illness. Workers comp insurance can also protect you from lawsuit costs if an employee sues you for an on-the-job injury.
