Recently our clients at the IW Women’s Center at Crabbs Branch have found a new favorite form of self care! These beautiful puzzles were all put together by the women at Crabbs Branch. They also have a new meditation corner in the shelter where they can relax, breathe and feel safe. All items in the meditation corner were purchased with funds from our amazing donors who supported these clients after the shelter fire earlier this year. Thank you to everyone who helped these clients have a place for peace and relief during turbulent time. #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors

Our staff from the IW Essential Needs Center had a jam packed weekend! It started with Recycle Day at Westfield Montgomery with WUSA9 where we received many donations of car seats, strollers, gently used clothing and home goods. Then we attended the Voces Importantes Graduation with the Hispanic Community Liasion for the Montgomery County Police Department where woman who have experienced domestic violence were able to have workshops and have their celebration called Sombreros de Fortaleza! Lastly, the ENC hosted a volunteer breakfast here for disability awareness month! We are so grateful to everyone in the community that supports our clients, and for opportunities to support our partners in the county! We look forward to more opportunities to celebrate and come together!

After our time at Project Community Connect, our friends at the United Way of the National Capital Area kindly donated hundreds of pairs of news socks and dozens of cold weather, toiletry, feminine hygiene, and snack kits for our clients in our shelters! Thank you for your support! #thankfulthursday #neighborshelpingneighbors

Hispanic Community Liaison and Media Spokesperson in the Community Engagement Division of the Montgomery County Police Department
Our experience visiting Interfaith Works was amazing and I must give a special shoutout to Supriya Mordecai, she truly embodies the spirit of kindness! From the moment Karla Fuentes and I walked in, we were greeted with so much enthusiasm. Supriya’s passion for helping others was evident in every step of our tour. As we explored the warehouse, Supriya pulled out beautiful dresses for the women in our empowerment group to wear on their graduation day. This is thanks to the community’s donations. But it wasn’t just about clothes—Supriya also was a guest speaker sharing the resources Interfaith Works provides to help people thrive. Seeing the partnership between Interfaith Works, the Montgomery County Police Department, and our community reinforced just how powerful we are when we unite. From dresses and smiles to fashion advice from models like Madeline Colon and Casandra Tresler, I even got asked for my tips! Who knew I had a flair for fashion? This day was a beautiful reminder of what’s possible when we come together. #CommunityEngagementDivision #MCPD #VocesImportantes #InterfaithWorks #WomenSupportingWomen #DomesticViolence #Empowerment

Hip Hop for the Homeless was brought to us by DJ Mo who is both a DJ and a comedian. He volunteered his time and talent to provide a fun Saturday afternoon for our clients and staff at the New Lead Shelter. We cooked out, played field game, had a lot of photo ops, played guess that tune, line danced and just enjoyed good food and great weather. Food was provided by the most generous New Leaf donors, Pastor Betty and the Overcomers Outreach Ministry, Queen B catering, and Kenya’s Ja’Kitchen (sponsored by BreadCoin). Thank you to everyone who made this event so special!
