***ATTN: FIRE & EMS PERSONNEL - IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUESTED*** The IAEMSC is working with the IAFC in conducting a study for the USFA on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in American Fire and EMS. The study will ultimately provide the foundation for a report on DEI in Fire and EMS in the United States. The data collected in this study will be evaluated to determine how critical workplace issues related to DEI such as harassment, bullying, leadership, recruitment, and retention impact the fire service and EMS; definitions of diversity, equity, and inclusion in Fire and EMS; and explore the cultural readiness for change. In addition, the final report will also provide information on any differences that may exist within geographical regions and/or levels of authority within the US. Your assistance is requested: -Use the link to complete the survey. -Forward the survey and link via your local, state fire and/or EMS distribution lists. -Encourage your colleagues in fire and/or EMS organizations to complete a survey. The survey is open to fire & EMS providers at any level within an organization. All responses to this study are 100% anonymous. Respondents will not be asked to provide any personal identification information and we do not collect any data that would trace responses back to any one individual or organization. The late great Eddie Gabriel and Andy Stern had me appointed as faculty of the Brain Trauma Foundation (I am a former member of the faculty, I do not teach for them currently). Our friends from the Brain Trauma Foundation have reached out to me they are trying to get the word out to the EMS community about a webinar they are doing at the end of the month to disseminate the newest Prehospital Guidelines. The 2nd edition was shown to reduce mortality from TBI by at least 50% in the recent EPIC study as many of you know. Some of the key/most prominent authors will be presenting.
