🔥#AsbestosAwarenessWeek #Firefighters risk their lives to save others, but the dangers of their job don't stop when the fire is out. Exposure to asbestos is a serious threat to the safety of #firefighters, and can lead to the development of deadly diseases, like mesothelioma. The IAFF and its partners have been working to lower the risk of asbestos exposure for our members. Learn more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g5wJBgiN

🪜March is #LadderSafetyMonth. Thousands of people have been killed or seriously injured due to falls from ladders. Injuries and deaths caused by ladders are preventable. Take the time this month to review #OSHA’s safety tips: ✔️ Read and follow all labels/markings on the ladder. ✔️ Always inspect the ladder before using it. If it is damaged, it must be removed from service and tagged until repaired or discarded. ✔️ Use a ladder only on a stable and level surface, unless it has been secured (top or bottom) to prevent displacement. ✔️ Do not move or shift a ladder while a person or equipment is on the ladder. ✔️ Do not place a ladder on boxes, barrels, or other unstable bases to obtain additional height.

👏 After over 20 years of dedicated service to the #IAFF, Chief of Field Services Pat Morrison is retiring, leaving behind a powerful legacy of leadership, mentorship, and advocacy for #firefighters. “Anyone dealing with Pat knows that Pat has the purest of intentions in everything that he's doing. His track record is second to none in the IAFF. He’s been a trailblazer when we needed it in places people were afraid to go,” said IAFF General President Edward Kelly. #Leadership #Mentorship #PublicSafety
