Supply chain directors looking for versatile logistics partners should know that JAXPORT (Jacksonville Port Authority) specializes in handling and storing breakbulk, which is cargo traditionally shipped outside of a container. This type of cargo includes products like paper, food, and heavy machinery. JAXPORT’s worldwide cargo service, including direct connections to 140 ports in 70 countries, enables these items to regularly cross the docks at the Talleyrand and Blount Island terminals. Terminal operators Enstructure and SSA Marine specialize in all aspects of handling breakbulk cargo, including storage when needed. About 90 percent of the breakbulk that moves through JAXPORT is temporarily stored in one of the facilities that make up the port’s combined 1 million square feet of on-dock warehousing before being shipped out by truck and rail. https://lnkd.in/e7RY5TBN #breakbulk #paperindustry #forestproducts #jaxport

Good news about EUDR.... The EU Commission today proposed a postponement of the implementation of the Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). The pulp and paper sector welcomes the announcement, which offers an occasion to develop a stronger framework to fight deforestation. The European Parliament and EU Council will still need to confirm the delayed phase-in. The EU Commission has proposed [on Oct. 3] a draft amendment to postpone by a year the implementation of a regulation aiming to limit deforestation linked to commodities, not only imported but also produced and exported from the European Union. https://lnkd.in/e2cj8Zb5

With under 100 days until implementation, European primary producers and industries urge a delay of the #EUDR. While committed to combating deforestation, more time and clarity are needed to avoid severe economic disruption, job losses in rural areas and market uncertainty.

International Forest Products Transport Association (IFPTA) reposted this
The industry’s big hitters shared their viewpoints, tackled pressing issues and took part in lively discussions. The Fastmarkets Transport Symposium answered questions troubling the forest products supply chain – and gave delegates real insight into where the industry is heading. This year, the event took place in Antwerp and hosted 340+ key international players. Together, they examined the latest logistics issues in the pulp, paper and packaging sectors – from geopolitics hitting transport and supply chains, to labor shortages and environmental controls. With expert-led sessions and plenty of networking across 2.5 days, delegates picked up valuable knowledge and explored the potential for lucrative new partnerships. A huge thank-you to all our speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and attendees for making this year's event a huge success – and a vital source of industry intelligence. #FastmarketsForestProducts
