The International Institute on Collaboration (IIonC) centers collaboration to bridge individuals, organizations, and communities to create a future where everyone benefits. IIonC uses an assessment that grounds leaders where they align with the five building blocks of collaboration. We use a simple framework and developed curriculum alongside further development of transformational leadership, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills to train and coach individuals and organizations how to design, lead, complete, and celebrate all collaborations.

What does having a culture of collaboration mean to you?
Monday Mind...... Realizing that collaboration is not just a feel good value. I have a side gig that introduces me to a lot of different companies. I love the connections and learning we do together as I facilitate this work. I love reading in the assigned homework how companies hold collaboration as one of their company values. However. many of them aren't taking action to create stronger collaborations. Many employees don't understand how this works into their roles. If collaboration is one of your company values. Here are a couple 'to dos' that will allow employees to live it instead of just say it. 1) Create a company wide definition of collaboration to guide you and demonstrate what this looks like and how it shows up in the work. 2) Examine what skills are needed in those collaborations and dedicate time to building and amplifying them. 3) Have conversations and create stronger relationships among all colleagues to reap the benefits of strong effective collaborations. Facilitation is so unbelievably important to our collaborations. There is the facilitation that we think about: Someone holding space so that an idea can grow and thoughts can be shared. AND There is the facilitation needed to keep the movement of a collaboration going. Some level of facilitation skills are needed by all collaborators in addition to the presence of a designated facilitator. How does this show up? -Calling in questions. -New approaches to obstacles. -Identifying when we're off track or need to get off track. -Sensing where co-collaborators are at and what the conversation really needs to be about. -And so much more.
