Very grateful to International Schools Services for the opportunity to kick-off the recruiting season in a high impact-low stress environment for recruiters and candidates. Our 3 recruiters had a full day of quality conversations with job-seeking teachers, administrative colleagues, and vendors/partners in the industry (and, Stefanie Zhang, we were indeed wiped out ;). Our teacher attendees were also full of praise for the quality presentations they attended throughout the day. Hats off to ISS for blending teacher recruitment and quality PD! It was also wonderful to connect with several former colleagues from the region. So fortunate to be a part of the community of international schools in the Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou-Shenzhen-HK-Macau and surrounding areas).

I'm feeling incredibly inspired and energized after attending the AISA Africa conference in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa! It was an amazing experience to connect with so many passionate educators and learn about the innovative work happening in schools across the region. The conference theme of "Sawubona" (I see you) deeply resonated with me, and it was truly heartwarming to feel seen, recognized, and filled with joy throughout the event. A special shout-out to the dedicated school leaders who attended and actively participated in my workshop session on recruiting and building producing teams for sustainable growth. Your engagement, questions, and enthusiasm were fantastic! I also enjoyed the governance AI brainstorming I did in the workshop of my esteemed colleague John Burns in collaboration with Nneka Johnson, Ph.D. It was a thought-provoking session that sparked many insightful conversations. Further, it's been an honor to have recruited some of the most amazing, diverse, and exceptionally talented leaders in the #AISA region. With their high level of experience and intercultural competence, they're seeing and valuing all members in their communities and making a huge difference in children's lives. I want to acknowledge the teacher-leader Lauren Grose, M.Ed. and outstanding Head of School leaders: Cassandra Hazel, Kayla Dorsey-Twumasi, Kevin Onabiyi, Jackie Otula, and Michael Schooler.  They embody principles of #sawubona and bring a vision for innovative and sustainable success. communities. I'm also proud to have collaborated with members of the AISA board to rethink the Executive Director posting two years ago. Their openness to feedback led to a more inclusive job description and pipeline--resulting in the appointment of the exceptional Elizabeth Imende, who in her first year in the role has been nothing short of remarkable! ❤️ Finally, a big thank you to the Africa Office of Overseas REO, Dr. Bobbi McDaniel, for her ongoing support and partnership within the region. I'm excited to carry the momentum from this conference forward and continue working together to create a brighter future for education in Africa and beyond!
