A Wise Person Once Said… “If we don’t take care of our customers, someone else will.” – Edgar Mitchell “Do what you do so well that customers will want to see it again and bring their friends.” – Walt Disney “It takes months to find a customer…it takes seconds to lose them.” ¬– Vince Lombardi While the fundamentals of serving guests haven’t changed, consistently delivering extraordinary customer experiences has become much more complicated for hotels in recent years. It’s no longer enough to ensure that basic standards are met; ensuring extraordinary customer experiences requires more planning, preparation, and coordination. "As hoteliers enter the critical phase of budget planning, it's essential to scrutinize where digital marketing dollars are allocated and what outcomes they drive. With a myriad of platforms available, it’s easy to spread the budget thin without reaping significant returns. The fear of missing out often leads to investments in secondary channels like social media and influencer marketing simply because "everyone else is doing it." While these platforms might feel essential for certain hotel types or demographics, the key question remains: Are they delivering the desired results?" If this sounds like where you're at, this article is a must read! And finally we have come to the awards and recognition portion of our 2024 ISHC Annual Conference! Our 2025 Chair Kristie Dickinson, ISHC led the evening with a heartfelt tribute to Tea Ros, ISHC, our outgoing 2024 Chair. Tea will take a short intermission and then she will be back at it planning...just kidding, a long(ish) intermission! 😉 María Quintero of HVS Middle East & Africa was the recipient of the 2024 Lori Raleigh Award for Emerging Excellence in Hospitality Consulting with Hala Matar Choufany هلا مطر شوفاني also delivering a heartfelt introduction. Created in 2015, the purpose of this award is to honor young professionals who have demonstrated early career success and leadership qualities within the field of hospitality consulting. And finally, as the real Charles Pinkowski couldn't be with us this year, our very own Chuck Pinkowski impersonator (ISHC CEO Andrea Belfanti) stepped up to award Stephen Hennis, MAI, ISHC, CHA with the Chuck Pinkowski Member Service Award. The ISHC Chuck Pinkowski Member Service award was established in 2000, in recognition of Chuck Pinkowski's, Founding member and Executive Director of ISHC from 1989- 2000, volunteer contributions to ISHC. To continue to foster this tremendous contribution of volunteer time by members, each year, ISHC recognizes a member for their special outstanding volunteer contributions to ISHC. Congratulations to all and we look forward to seeing you at the 2025 ISHC Annual Conference! #ishcindubai2024 #hospitalityconsulting #awardseason

From the outside, it might look like a rousing version of YMCA followed by a spaceship discussion and a night on the town, but there was serious hospitality industry business happening at the 2024 ISHC Annual Conference! We learned about the power of our voices, caught up on the latest Red Sea Global developments in Saudi Arabia, and learned we could be doing it more efficiently from high school student Selin Atayeva! We capped the day at the Park Hyatt Dubai for our Celebration and Awards Gala. More pictures to follow. #ishcindubai2024 #memoriesmonday #hospitality
