🎃 The Spooky Origins of the Word "Halloween" 🎃 Ever wondered why we call October 31st "Halloween"? Here's the eerie etymology of this spooky celebration! 👻 The word "Halloween" has a fascinating history that dates back centuries. It all started with "All Hallows' Eve," the night before All Saints' Day, which is celebrated on November 1st. "Hallow" is an old English word for "saint," and "eve" refers to the evening before. Over time, "All Hallows' Eve" was shortened to "Hallowe'en," and eventually, it became the "Halloween" we know and love today. But that's not all! The traditions we associate with Halloween, like dressing up in costumes and trick-or-treating, have roots in ancient Celtic festivals, particularly Samhain. This festival marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, a time when it was believed that the boundary between the living and the dead was at its thinnest. For more spine-chilling words and their origins, check out our blog post from last year: Unveiling the Mystique: Spooky Words from Around the World, here: https://lnkd.in/eRe5b9FZ Happy Halloween from all of us at iTi! 🎃 #Halloween #Etymology #LanguageLovers #iTiTranslates

Celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month: Fostering Inclusivity in the Workplace October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to recognize the vital contributions of workers with disabilities and promote inclusive employment practices. This year’s theme, “Advancing Access and Equity,” highlights the importance of creating workplaces that are accessible and welcoming to all. At iTi, we believe that inclusivity is not just a goal but a continuous journey. One of the key ways to foster an inclusive environment is by ensuring effective communication for all employees, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Providing ASL Interpreters: American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters play a crucial role in facilitating communication between deaf and hearing individuals. By offering ASL interpretation services, companies can ensure that meetings, training sessions, and everyday interactions are accessible to all employees. CART and C-Print Services: Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) and C-Print are essential tools for providing real-time transcription services. CART provides a word-for-word transcription of spoken language, while C-Print offers a meaning-for-meaning transcription. Both services enable deaf and hard of hearing employees to fully participate in meetings, presentations, and other workplace activities. By integrating these services, companies can create a more inclusive and supportive environment where every employee feels valued and empowered. This not only enhances productivity but also fosters a culture of respect and understanding. As we celebrate NDEAM, let’s commit to advancing access and equity in our workplaces. Together, we can build a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Learn about our...
