If you ask employees from across our markets why they join Team INTRUST in the Wichita Corporate Challenge, you’ll likely hear, “I wanted to try something out of my comfort zone,” or “It allowed me to connect with employees from other departments that I don’t regularly interact with.” These answers are why we encourage our employees to participate if they want to — it’s collaborative, it’s fun, and it makes for great stories and memories that strengthen our working relationships. So far, we’ve competed in pickleball, disc golf, cornhole, track and field events, flag football, tennis, Esports - Rocket League, golf, mini golf, dodgeball, and basketball. Still to come are soccer, softball, 5k walk, trivia, and volleyball. We’re looking forward to the next several days of competition!

“I don’t know that I would have gone back if it wasn’t for that.” For Rosie Mosate, treasury services supervisor, tuition reimbursement provides a clear path forward personally and professionally. “I was an architecture major, and I thought it was going to be my path, but I didn’t enjoy it,” she says. After leaving school, Rosie started at INTRUST as a teller in 2018 in Lawrence. “I always just talked about going back to school, but I didn’t know what I wanted to do,” she says. “I had a good manager who told me about tuition reimbursement. I really liked banking, I liked the people aspect and the numbers. I decided I wanted to make it my career.” After earning promotions, and moving to Wichita to work in treasury, the topic came up again. “I brought it up with my new manager, but wondered if I could go to school and work at the same time,” she says. “They said ‘we’re going to make it happen’. Everyone has made it a point to support me.” Rosie is now in a supervisory role and will start her last year at Wichita State University as a business administration major. “Tuition reimbursement has made it really accessible,” she says. “It helped quell any fears I had about focusing on work and school.”

Positivity is one of ten character qualities we’ve outlined that define who we are as a company, helping us earn and maintain the trust of our customers and employees. For Llayton Taylor, customer service trainer and quality assurance coordinator, it’s an innate quality you recognize he possesses within the first few minutes of meeting him. It’s why he’s this year’s recipient of our Cultivating Character award, an internal recognition opportunity that invites employees to nominate a co-worker who exemplifies a specific character quality. “I treat people as I’d want to be treated,” he says. “Demonstrating ongoing positivity in my training role keeps my trainees encouraged and engaged throughout the entire process. “Starting in customer service is much like building a house,” he continues. “Proper training should provide an extremely strong foundation, giving employees the essentials needed to do their job effectively. Then, it’s the individual’s responsibility to continue building and improving their house, steadily becoming the most valuable version of themselves. With this mindset, trainees can remain positive remembering it’s a marathon, not a sprint.” Congratulations, Llayton! We’re so glad you’re part of the INTRUST team.
