We’re at #AABIP2024 with Drs. Catherine Oberg, Scott Oh, DO, FCCP, DAABIP, and IP fellows from around the country—connecting the current generation of pioneers with the next generation of lung cancer program builders, who will advance what’s possible in minimally invasive lung care. "Collaborating with Intuitive not only includes top-tier clinical and programmatic support but also goes much deeper," said Dr. Oberg. "They are truly interested in education at all levels and at facilitating community building to help empower those who are interested in advancing minimally invasive lung care." This is what our commitment to education looks like: sharing knowledge, experience, and advice to advance careers and continuously innovate—together.

We’re at #AABIP2024 with Drs. Bryan Husta, George Cheng, Ara Chrissian, Colleen Keyes, and Maykol Postigo—and we’re talking about innovation with intention to transform lung cancer care. An emerging body of evidence informed our discussion on everything from Ion’s innovative preprocedural planning and intraprocedural navigation tools to the platform’s open-access* approach to imaging integration. These aren't just features; they’re opportunities to provide early answers. Intuitive Ion is designed to be the platform for the future. Our ongoing commitment to collaborative innovation helps empower physicians with access to meaningful innovation that will continually advance lung care for years to come. Listen, learn, innovate—that’s Intuitive. *”Open-access” refers to the ability of the physician to use compatible tools with the Ion system: refer to the user manual for a list of compatible tools.

When Dr. Aaron Quyn was asked what surprised him most about his work as a surgeon, he said, “What I’m most surprised by, and it’s magnified by using the da Vinci system, is that I’m still improving as a surgeon. Part of that is the operative view, and part is that developments keep evolving with da Vinci. I’d like to think most surgeons, when reflecting, will say that the robot gives them the platform to become better.”   In our new Surgeon Spotlight series, we’re exploring the world of robotic surgery through the eyes of some of the most skilled and knowledgeable physicians in the world. Up next, a UK-based surgeon with a truly global outlook: Dr. Aaron Quyn, associate professor of surgery at the University of Leeds.

Every day at Intuitive, employees build leading-edge technology that empowers doctors to save lives. This is a place where our passion for innovation, our laser focus on patient care, and a culture of openness and inclusivity drive meaningful progress and personal growth. Managing Engineering Fellow Pink (aka Ian) McDowall has been contributing to Intuitive’s progress for 16 years—but it’s only recently that they’ve felt the full power of belonging here. A tragic event propelled Pink to change. As their boss was dying, Pink looked back on their life and realized: “I had to be my authentic self.” Part of their expression was changing from the masculine clothes they had always worn to the office to wearing skirts and more female-style clothes. “Dressing the way I do makes me feel whole, and that’s a really great feeling.” Pink also wanted to use their own experience to educate other employees about gender identity—encouraging questions and dialogue after they gave a presentation about their new fashion. “I wanted to make it clear to people that it was important to me, and afterward people told me I’d made them more comfortable having conversations about gender identities, particularly with their kids.” Pink shares their story with the hope that it will “help other people feel a little more confident about expressing themselves.” Join us in building an Intuitive where everyone can belong and flourish: https://lnkd.in/exCvRUJU #WeAreIntuitive

At Intuitive, every innovation we make leads us to helping doctors change patients’ lives. And that includes right here at home, where so many of our employees and the people they love have been affected by da Vinci surgery. Senior Manufacturing Engineer Claudia Lopez Rivera’s journey to this company wasn’t easy. She and her family left El Salvador’s civil war for a better life. “There had been so much chaos and disarray in my life,” Claudia says. “Process became a way of making sense of everything. Becoming a process engineer was a way of looking at things in order.” In 2019, all the processes Claudia works so hard to create became very personal when she needed da Vinci surgery to remove her gall bladder. “I cannot say enough about how great an outcome my surgery was,” Claudia shares. “My recovery was short and painless.” Now Claudia feels even more passionate about the innovations she strives for every day. “I’m doing it for the next patient. I’m doing it for somebody’s brother or sister or mom, and that makes it much more meaningful.” Are you ready for a challenging and rewarding career with true impact? Innovation through integration. That’s one way of advancing care for lung cancer patients. Intuitive Ion is the only bronchoscopic platform with integrated Cios Spin 3D imaging. Scans performed by Cios Spin are automatically sent to Ion, enabling physicians to refine navigation and verify tool-in-lesion—critical to the biopsy of lung nodules. Discover how UC Davis Health—the first hospital system in Northern California to join these two innovative technologies—is advancing care for their patients: https://lnkd.in/ej3PEWid *Patients should consult their physician to decide whether a robotic-assisted procedure is appropriate in the individual case in order to make an informed decision taking into account benefits and risks.
