🔹 Why Iridium Leadership? 🔹 At Iridium Leadership, we recognize the power of a metaphor—and ours speaks volumes. As a noble metal, Iridium is impervious to corrosion and does not contaminate its environment. It can withstand tremendous pressure and extreme heat. We believe this is a compelling metaphor for leadership. Noble leaders define and solidify themselves with principle-based thinking that guides their actions, even under intense pressure. Yet, they remain flexible. They can observe, be less reactive, provide a calming presence, and be reasoned thinkers. At Iridium Leadership, we strengthen your leadership core, enabling you to enhance your performance and that of your organization. Our video includes more details about our name and why we chose it. What metaphors do you use to describe leadership? We'd love to hear them in the comments box. #IridiumLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #SystemsThinking

Cultivating Leadership with Intention At Iridium Leadership, we believe that leadership isn't just about following a checklist; it's about crafting your own definition and approach with purpose. Just like elite athletes who train diligently, effective leaders invest time in honing their skills. Ask yourself: What does leadership mean to you? Who has inspired your journey? Remember, true leadership requires intentionality and commitment. Are you ready to invest in your growth? Dive deeper into this concept in our blog post: https://lnkd.in/echu3iF2 #LeadershipDevelopment #IntentionalGrowth #InvestInYourself

There are times when we all can get increasingly anxious and stressed, especially regarding work/life balance, finances, and other life events. Sometimes, we automatically kick into our stress behaviors without even knowing it. So, how might we make adjustments when those behaviors creep up? It's easier said than done, right? Well, we don't disagree, but try these strategies next time and see if they might work for you. 1. Observe Yourself: What's my typical go-to behavior? How often am I using it? When does it serve me well? When does over-use become detrimental? 2. Regulate Yourself: What would "calming down" look like? What practices help me slow down more? 3. Plan An Approach: Plan for the optimal approach in crucial situations. What is needed from me to be a better self? 4. Make A Move: Begin to implement the plan. Seek out a trusted confidant for support. Leadership is like any other skill. It is something to be learned and practiced. We can build new muscles! What has worked for you to bring your best, less anxious behaviors in times of stress? #leadershipcoaching #leadership #executiveleadership

In our leadership development programs, we get to work immediately. We start by asking our attendees to do a self-administered 360. Here is the process and some questions to consider. Give this experiment a try! 1. Seek out five people: boss, peers, direct reports, other stakeholders, friends, and family. 2. Send these questions ahead of time. 3. Have an adult-adult conversation. Be genuinely curious. Watch for defensiveness. 4. Thank them for the gift of feedback. (It is a gift and takes courage on their part also!) 5. Identify one strength to continue to leverage. Identify one growth area for improvement. What is holding you back from a self-administered 360? What might you gain from 'pressing go'? #leadershipcoaching #leadership #executiveleadership

You have had situations that produced anxiety. We all have. Sometimes, that anxiety causes behaviors that compromise our effectiveness as leaders. Three Anxious Behaviors that Can Undermine Our Effectiveness: 1. Over-Functioning - telling people what to do instead of helping them think of solutions for themselves 2. Ineffective Triangle Leadership - gossip, talking about someone to another instead of talking directly to the person 3. Emotional Intensity - unnecessarily amping things up How have these shown up during overly anxious situations? We'd like to know your experience with these behaviors or what resonates with you on this topic. Please leave us a note in the comments. We dive deeper here in our recent blog post: https://lnkd.in/g9TcShvb #leadershipcoaching #leadership #executiveleadership

Your opinions matter. When challenged though, do you polarize or problem-solve? Perhaps you become rigid in your thinking and back yourself into a corner. Here are two techniques to preserve the process and demonstrate partnership: https://lnkd.in/gr24CcT4 How have you maintained openness when your idea has been challenged? #leadershipcoaching #leadership #executiveleadership

We are grateful for client testimonials! It confirms that participants resonate with our approach and that it has had an impact on their lives. Here's a snippet of what resonated with Jessica Levon: "Dewitt used various analytical tools to help me find insights on my strengths, needs, behaviors and values to better connect with the people around me. Sometimes, he went above and beyond to help me dive deeper into the "Why's" for a clearer understanding on what better version of myself my partners wanted. I thank coach Dewitt Dees for guiding me through the leadership program and giving me good advice on how to approach various situations and learn from my peers. I feel calmer and more aware of my behavior. My focus is now geared at finding common ground with my peers to develop meaningful relationships and drive the business forward." #executivecoaching #leadership #leadershiptraining

HR Houston works very hard to serve up a rich menu of events and sessions for conference-goers. It was a genuine privilege for Iridium Leadership and Phillip Weiss to be part of it! Emily: Thank you for your post! It's always a gift to have someone in the classroom who's so engaged. Wow. Look at those notes!

Last post from the #hrhouston #gulfcoastsymposium. This conference has left me energized and hopeful. My final presentation was led by Phillip Weiss. It brought the event full cirlcle for me because I happened to sit by Phillip at one of my first sessions yesterday morning. It was one of those presentations like that day at church where you’re instructed to shake the hand of everyone around you… except instead of shaking hands we had to ask eachother repeatedly “who are you?” Phillip was my partner. It got deep. So, hearing him speak about being a High Impact HR Leader, felt like hearing from a friend I knew well. He’s a recognized expert in leadership development and all around peaceful person. Here are my key takeaways: 🌎 We need to be asking the business “what keeps you up at night?” to understand what drives them and be willing to get to know the work they do (ie shadow). 🌎 We are wired for negativity and should spend more time talking about what we do well. 🌎 Be aware in moments of high anxiety, am I amping up the system or cooling it down? 🌎 (bonus) We’re all going through something. To gain perspective when frustrated with another person, ask yourself, “what is that person up against?”

Are you at the HR EVOLUTION Gulf Coast Symposium in Houston, TX at the NRG Center today and on August 8th? If so, Phillip Weiss will be speaking on Thursday, August 8th at 2:45 pm. In his discussion titled, The High-Impact Leader: How to Be Less Anxious and More in Demand, Phillip will explore the challenges and opportunities that HR and all leaders face in working in our sometimes-high-stress environments. With a strong focus on systems theory, Phillip will investigate the larger dynamics at play and how our reactivity or steady hand can contribute to or take away from making the impact we want. We'd love to meet up for a quick chat and discuss what Iridium is currently doing in the Gulf Coast. Whether it's 1:1 coaching, team building events, or In-House Leadership Development we are helping our clients raise the bar on their leadership effectiveness. Please use the Calendly links below to set up time with either Phillip Weiss or Dewitt Dees.
