"One of our company values at Iron Galaxy is continuous improvement. We’re always looking for new and exciting ways to invest in the talented people who make games with us. On the Art Team, between project deployments, we find moments to further explore our craft. These initiatives can be focused on creating new art or leaning into upcoming and emerging software and technologies. With the release of Unreal 5 and the many features it brought to the game engine world, we saw a huge opportunity to experiment with new tools." Artistic Learning Initiative https://lnkd.in/gZ5sb947

As a DEIA Program Manager, I love the opportunity to bring people together for meaningful conversations and hands-on experiences. Recently, my team came to Atlanta, and we spent an inspiring day connecting with the next generation of game developers and tech professionals. We kicked things off by visiting Georgia State University’s Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII), where we explored cutting-edge technology and met with students passionate about the future of gaming and media. Later, we hosted our own networking night featuring an incredible game development panel and hands-on resume/portfolio reviews. The energy and talent in the room were incredible! Day 2 was just as exciting as we attended the AUCC Career Fair, connecting with even more talented students from Atlanta’s HBCUs! Stay tuned for more on how that experience went. It’s moments like these that remind me why creating inclusive spaces and opportunities in the tech and gaming industries is so important. Representation matters—and building those connections is how we shape a more diverse future. Like this post for part 2! #DEIA #GameDevelopment #Networking #DiversityInTech #RepresentationMatters #GSUCMII #CareerDevelopment #GamingIndustry #AUCC #HBCU

Galaxians across each studio had goo-gobs of fun during our Dungeons & Dragons one-shot night. Each group investigated mysterious fae magic that stirred up trouble for a nearby night market. Barbarians, rangers, druids, and sorcerers aimed to make peace, or cause trouble during their adventure. One thing's for certain, everyone had fun.

Recently went to my first networking and information event hosted by Iron Galaxy Studios at Hotel Indigo in Downtown Atlanta! I had an amazing time getting to meet and talk to new people about Game Design and Development. While also getting resume, cover letter, and portfolio advice from industry professionals. Here’s some of the things I learned: - Be a team player. - Be receptive to feedback. - Don’t be a jerk. (Be easy to work with) - Apply to jobs on the company website. - Cover letter = Job description + Resume If a company says that they need someone who can do xyz, state that I can provide that for them in my cover letter. - Use my expirences and connect them to my soft skills and refer to those experiences in my resume. - My headline in my resume should be something similar to the job I’m applying for. - Put words in bold I want to attract people to in my resume. - In my portfolio I should use a gameplay GIF as the cover instead of a static image. Ask interviewers questions like: - “Is this something you want from me on this?” - “Should I do a deep dive or an overview?” - “Do you have any concerns for me in this role?” - “Who’s someone at the company, not in your department that you love collaborating with?” I would like to thank Iron Galaxy Studios, Elijah Montoya, Katherine Sánchez, and Joseph Palmer for coming out and giving us this opportunity to learn and fellowship. Also, thanks for the pizza, it was really good.😄
