After employees generously spent the day harvesting produce at our Healthy Harvest Farm, Stop & Shop  presented us with a check for $204,000 in support of the Island Harvest Youth Produce Project, which began in 2013 through a longstanding partnership with the Stop & Shop Family Foundation.   The program provides low-income children and their families with weekly boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables. This initiative partners with eight Head Start locations across Long Island to ensure these families receive essential nutrition. Beyond food distribution, the project also educates children and their families on the importance of developing and maintaining healthy, well-balanced eating habits, addressing both immediate hunger and long-term wellness.   With this donation, the Youth Produce Project can now distribute a variety of fresh produce to at least 490 children per week. This support translates to over 65,000 pounds of healthy produce, supplementing nearly 55,000 meals. Leviton's generosity lights up classrooms across Long Island! Their donation of school supplies empowers students in need. At Island Harvest, we believe that every child deserves the tools to succeed in school. Thanks to Leviton's incredible support, we're able to provide essential school supplies to students from low-income families across Long Island. This act of kindness not only equips children with the materials they need but also boosts their confidence and readiness to learn. Our mission to end hunger and reduce food waste extends beyond meals. We understand that true community support involves addressing various needs, including education. Leviton's contribution aligns perfectly with our holistic approach to nurturing our community. We're grateful for partners like Leviton who share our vision of a stronger, more resilient Long Island. Together, we're investing in the future of our community, one student at a time.

So grateful to rescue food from yesterday’s Key Food Selling Show at Nassau Coliseum. 13,329 pounds of food will now go back to the community (that's over 11,000 meals!), not only helping to feed the community, but reducing food waste too. Thank you, Event Kings for inviting us to collect this food, and thank you to the small army of volunteers that walked (more like raced!) through the many aisles, collecting leftover food, packing it up, and loading onto our trucks. Meet the heart (and muscle!) of some members of our INCREDIBLE warehouse team that makes our work possible. This morning, Charlie and Troy and the team unloaded 40,000 lbs. of produce(!) donated by Feeding New York State. That’s 40,000 lbs. pounds in, and 40,000 pounds that they will get right back out to the community through our agency network. Thank you, Charlie, Troy and the rest of the team! Healthy Harvest Farm reaches milestone: 5,300 pounds of fresh produce for our Long Island neighbors! We're thrilled to announce that our Healthy Harvest Farm has surpassed 5,300 pounds of fresh produce grown for our community. This achievement is a testament to the power of collaboration and the dedication of our volunteers and partners. We'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our supporters, including American Global who volunteered on our farm today for the first time, for their continued commitment to our mission. Together, we're making a significant impact on food security in our region.
