The RedLAC Conference in Saint Lucia really set the bar high for conservation action, as we've spent the last few days discussing replicable approaches to achieve the ambitious goal of conserving 30% of land and sea areas in Latin America and the Caribbean by 2030. Besides bringing plenary sessions and workshops around climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, marine protected areas, and circular economy, the RedLAC Conference organisers had a surprise or two under their sleeves: 📢 During day 2 of the event, Karen McDonald Gayle and her team from the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund launched another Call for Proposals for the Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) Facility, offering USD 15.5 million in grant funding for projects to assist in climate change adaptation efforts within the marine and coastal zones of the insular Caribbean. 🆕 To wrap up the conference, the Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund (SLUNCF) officially announced their brand-new initiative, the Marine Health Alliance (MHA). The MHA wants to bring sustainable tourism and marine conservation closer together by transforming their donation-based contributions into practical actions, such as reef protection, coastal clean-ups, restoration of mangroves and seagrass beds, and advocacy for the health of Saint Lucia's waters. What a thrilling event! We are so glad we could attend the conference as a supporting partner, and we want to congratulate RedLAC, Sandals Foundation, Caribbean Biodiversity Fund, Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund, and Bridge for allowing us to collaborate towards the 30x30x30 goals. Visit their channels to review the event's key moments. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eBdDi7PW
