Happy #VoteEarlyDay! Voting early is a safe, secure, and convenient way for voters to cast their ballot for the November election. Here at Issue One, some members of our team choose to vote early – read on to hear from them about why they did and why it matters to them! Georgia: “I’m grateful to live in a city with a transparent, accessible voting process so that I can put the majority of my time into making decisions on the issues that matter most to our democracy rather than figuring out how to vote or waiting to vote.” Mia: “Having flexibility as to where and when I can go vote is incredibly convenient. The environment while voting was positive and exciting and the poll workers made the process smooth and efficient.” Nicole: “Ever since I was a kid, when my parents used to take me with them to vote, Election Day has reflected a deep sense of civic responsibility. I love the feeling of community that happens at my local polling place and the pride of wearing my ‘I voted’ sticker.” Willa: “Trained election workers helped me through the whole process and made me feel right at home. I am so proud to have voted for both my community and my country!” Read the latest from The Reform Compass to get the full story ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g7RP9gbW

Take a moment to celebrate the #ElectionHeroes who are diligently preparing for the upcoming #ElectionDay. This is Nedra Cooper. Her experience working the polls goes back nearly 30 years! “You’re either part of the problem or part of the solution. I just think it’s really important to get involved. I think each of us owe it to give something back to the community, and one of the ways that we can give back is by working the polls and understanding that every vote counts.” Check out her “Meet the #FacesOfDemocracy” Q&A to learn more: https://lnkd.in/eGndX2kb

As Issue One CEO Nick Penniman says, sowing doubt and distrust in our elections doesn't advance the integrity of our elections, and we can’t let such attacks undermine the hard work of the teams of people from both parties who go through meticulous steps to verify voter rolls and election results. It's time to reject division and fear, and instead choose truth over clickbait, proof over unsubstantiated allegations, and country over party. https://lnkd.in/e7EYSYZf

Issue One released a new report today that reveals the financial and organizational networks that have been connected to organizations now involved in the Only Citizens Vote Coalition in recent years – a coalition which has been amplifying the threat of noncitizens casting ballots in our elections. Issue One's Amelia Minkin, MPP wrote a piece for our Substack that dives into the investigation, discusses the myth of noncitizen voting, and explains the impact of false narratives on those on the frontlines of our democracy. Give it a read: https://lnkd.in/gvDgdGNR

As Election Day approaches, we are celebrating the brave election workers who make our democracy possible, most of whom are women. According to new public opinion research, an overwhelming 93.4% of respondents agree that election workers should be shielded from threats and harassment. Stand with the women who uphold our democracy by signing our pledge, and commit to speaking out against harassment of election officials. https://lnkd.in/eYWUxbf3

A new Issue One investigation reveals more than $590 million in contributions since January 2020 to groups that are now part of the Only Citizens Vote Coalition, which has been amplifying the threat of noncitizens casting ballots in our elections and lending credibility to the biggest myth circulating around this year's election. The number of noncitizens who attempt to vote in elections is tiny but there is big money behind the groups pushing this false claim. Learn more and read the report: https://lnkd.in/e7EYSYZf

Sewell’s case is another tragic reminder of how #BigTech prioritizes profit at the expense of users. Section 230 – a liability statute – doesn’t shield companies that develop and promote harmful #AI tools. It’s past time to hold these companies accountable. https://lnkd.in/dfV_gydD Issue One Vice President of Technology Reform Alix Fraser released a statement in response to today’s lawsuit brought against Character.AI: https://lnkd.in/gqJEvEPk
