  • 🔎 Discover Michael Marcellin, our Pioneer Award for 2024. Michael W. Marcellin currently serves as the Regents Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and International Foundation for Telemetering Chaired Professor at the University of Arizona. He is a Faculty Fellow (Teaching) and a UA Honors Professor and has been working at the University for 36 years. He received his B.S. degree (summa cum laude) from San Diego State University in 1983, where he was named the most outstanding student in the College of Engineering, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Texas A&M University in 1985 and 1987. Michael was a recipient of the National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award in 1992 and a co-recipient of the 1993 IEEE Signal Processing Society Senior (Best Paper) Award. In 2003, he was named the San Diego State University Distinguished Engineering Alumnus. He is a fellow of the IEEE, and a member of the engineering honor societies Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu. He has received numerous teaching awards from National Technological University, IEEE Eta Kappa Nu students and the UA College of Engineering. Michael is a major contributor to JPEG2000, the emerging second-generation standard for image compression. His research interests include digital communication, data storage systems, data compression, and signal processing. He has authored or co-authored over 200 publications in these areas. Michael has been a key figure at the ITC conference. He consistently brings students to the conference and has won many paper awards with his students as well as ITC Best Paper Awards as an author. Michael has also been instrumental in helping previous Tech Chairs with the CMT Portal Site. He is the Point of Contact for the University of Arizona with the International Foundation for Telemetering. Michael has served as the General Chair for ITC 2015 and the Technical Chair for ITC 2013 and ITC 2018. He has been the key driving factor in constantly improving the ITC technical program

  • ITC will contain TWO Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) sessions. In order to attend those TWO sessions you must register on the ITC website AND on the TRMC website. ❗ This includes anyone who holds an active clearance or has a CAC/PIV card. Registrations on both the ITC and TRMC sites will be accepted until Friday, October 18th. Failure to register by the deadline will result in denied entry into the CUI session.
