About us
The science of genetics. The business of discovery. Colossal is a breakthrough bioscience and genetic engineering company that builds radical new technologies to advance the field of genomics. Colossal creates disruptive technologies for extinct species restoration, critically endangered species protection and the repopulation of critical ecosystems that support the continuation of life on Earth. The company is the first to apply CRISPR technology for the purposes of species de-extinction, beginning with the woolly mammoth. Colossal is accepting humanity’s duty to restore Earth to a healthier state, while also solving for the future economies and biological necessities of the human condition through cutting-edge science and technologies.

Congrats to our partners Colossal Biosciences on creating their foundation to secure their commitment to helping conserve threatened species, like the Victorian Grassland Earless Dragon. We look forward to our continued work together.

I'm delighted to share the announcement that Colossal Biosciences has now launched the Colossal Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit arm of Colossal, and has kicked off with an initial $50 million of secured funding targeted at stopping the coming extinction crisis. As well as preserving and increasing populations of endangered and at-risk animals, Colossal is working to de-extinct Tasmanian apex predator and keystone species, the Thylacine 🐾 https://lnkd.in/g9DYuf-M https://lnkd.in/geAY8HCm Colossal Biosciences Ben Lamm Andrew Pask

So interesting to have Ben Lamm, CEO of Colossal Biosciences as one of our Global Leader interviews on BBC Television. Wildlife plays a critical role in keeping our ecosystems like forests, grasslands and oceans intact and healthy, which in turn helps in our fight against climate change. The Global Rewilding Alliance is a network of over 170 organisations working in more than 70 countries, its aim is to re-establish native breeds in over 100 million hectares of land. But one tech science firm in the US is going one step further, teaming up with re:wild, Colossal is developing de-extinction technology that reverses plant and animal extinctions by creating new versions of previously lost species. So far, the Pyrenean ibex, is the only animal to have survived de-extinction past birth, but Colossal says it will produce a woolly mammoth calf born from genetically modified elephant cells by 2028. Many thanks to Chloé Kingscote for all your help and patience getting this interview on air.
