Last month, we hosted our 15th annual ISO Forecasting Summit in Seattle, Washington! With 42 attendees from 11 Independent System Operators (ISOs) across the U.S., Canada, and Australia, this year’s event was one of our most well-attended yet. The event provided a valuable forum for #ISOs to exchange insights on the latest #Forecasting challenges and solutions shaping the #Energy industry. Rich Simons, principal forecast consultant at Itron, shared some key takeaways:

Utilities today have the opportunity to collect large amounts of #Data. In fact, some utilities have more data than they know what to do with. Itron #CEO, Tom Deitrich, discusses the transition to AMI 2.0: “I would say that mileage varies pretty greatly from customer to customer,” Deitrich said. “And that’s not a criticism, that’s a reality. There are leaders in the marketplace that have eight or 10 apps downloaded onto those meters doing something in real time every day. We have others that are starting to seed it into their population. You don’t have to rip and replace the whole thing. The beauty of the solution is it’s forward-backward compatible, so you can put it where you need it.” - Tom Deitrich https://bit.ly/4eZVdc9

Renewable energy sources, especially #Solar, have the power to transform our energy landscape. Solar energy is abundant, sustainable and cost-effective. 🌇 However, it also presents unique challenges for #Grid management. Since solar panels only generate electricity when the sun is shining, energy production fluctuates throughout the day and depends on weather conditions. For an already strained and aging grid, the rise in solar adoption raises concerns. How can we maintain a stable #Energy supply when solar energy is unpredictable? Despite these challenges, clear strategies can ensure our grid remains stable, reliable and capable of supporting a sustainable energy future.
