Urban delivery hubs are helping shippers save on the final-mile legs of shipments. Our Vice President of Final Mile Jameson Goforth recently spoke with Transport Topics on the challenges shippers face with final mile. “If I have two pallets going from McHenry to Dallas, that’s an inefficient route,” Goforth said. “I’m going to use cross-dock several times if I’m shipping LTL. But if I have enough density, I can put a fulfillment center in Dallas, because my shipments end up in Dallas 60% of the time.” Read the full article here: https://hubs.li/Q02HTFgV0 #FinalMile #Logistics #supplychain

The possibility of a rail strike in Canada has cast a shadow over the logistics industry since it was postponed in May. Our VP of Global Supply Chain Paul Brashier spoke with Supply Chain Dive on how the shipping industry has prepared during the postponement. “The best operational plan to avoid these challenges is to terminate imports at the port of entry and use dray off, transload, and one-way trucking to get freight into DC networks,” Brashier said. “It is a very fluid situation and we continue to monitor daily until a resolution is reached.” Read the full article here: https://hubs.li/Q02HRbZV0 #supplychain #supplychainews #canada #rail #intermodal

Here's why: Caraway is obsessed with their customers’ experience and prioritized that in their growth strategy. Whether a customer bought the brand's cookware directly or from Macy’s, Crate and Barrel, or Target—Caraway’s vision was for its high standard to remain the same. Omnichannel logistics is the supply chain engine that made that possible. Our VP of Global Supply Chain Paul Brashier recently spoke with the team at DAT Freight & Analytics on port and rail conditions and freight forecasts for the back half of the year. While port and rail conditions are operating at normal levels now, this could be a calm before the storm. "Right now, we're starting to see forecasts for an early peak," said ITS Logistics VP of Global Supply Chain Paul Brashier. "So we're going to start seeing a lot more import volume come into the US as we get into the back end of July, August, and September. And with that, you're going to start seeing a lot more congestion." Listen to the full interview here: https://hubs.li/Q02G87t80
