Calling all climate and resilience researchers: Get your work featured at ISRC 2025! The IU Environmental Resilience Institute’s Indiana Sustainability and Resilience Conference (ISRC) connects Hoosier climate leaders to the knowledge, tools and resources that can accelerate climate action and resilience efforts in Indiana. This year, researchers can showcase work relevant to Indiana's environmental resilience and sustainability. Faculty, students and others can deliver a presentation, organize a panel, or lead a workshop. Additionally, a poster session is being organized to further highlight climate and resilience research with practical implications for Indiana and the Midwest. Submissions for both presentations and posters are being accepted from all researchers and students (not just those at IU). The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15. Be sure to save the date for the ISRC on Feb. 28 at the Monroe Convention Center in Bloomington, IN. https://lnkd.in/etCDJ4s8

The medical costs of this condition exceed $1 billion annually. The only viable current treatment is to add a drainage shunt in your brain every two years. The condition is hydrocephalus and it results in the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. Indiana University Indianapolis is one of only two universities in the country to host a Hydrocephalus Center (https://go.iu.edu/4PYd), the other being the one at Johns Hopkins. Funded via $11.7 million in grants from the Department of Defense, Professors Bonnie Blazer-Yost and Teri Belecky-Adams have built a program that will help us better understand, test, and create solutions to address a condition that affects primarily 60+ year olds as well as young babies. As VCR Phaedra Corso and I toured their labs, it was clear that the passion for discovery went beyond the faculty. Students at all levels – undergraduate, graduate, and post-doc – are excited about their work and driven to learn more about this condition. The pathway to solutions starts with curiosity and evolves into research and discovery, which then motivates cures. Thank you, Professors Blazer-Yost and Belecky-Adams, for what you do for science and the human condition.
