There are just two weeks until the IUPAC Global Women's Breakfast - happening on 14 February! Held in conjunction with the U.N. Day of Women and Girls in Science, The goal of the GWB series is to establish an active network of people of all genders to overcome the barriers to gender equality in science. At present there are nearly 250 events registered from more than 60 countries. All science organizations are welcome to organize events. Great resources are available to all organizers to make your event shine! https://t.co/rwS5TNxJl4. We have also developed a new GWB Organizers Guide https://lnkd.in/gJ59xrea we thank our sponsors: American Chemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, Bayer | Crop Science, Dow, Royal Australian Chemical Institute, New Zealand Institute of Chemistry

Join us on 11 February 2025 for IUPAC GWB2025. Held in conjunction with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the goal of “The Global Breakfast” is to establish an active network of people to overcome the barriers to gender equity in science. Over the last six years, nearly 2000 GWB have been held in 100 countries. Groups from all types of science organizations from high schools, to science societies, universities, companies, governments and non-governmental organizations are invited to participate. Event leaders are encouraged to collaborate with organizations in different sectors and to include scientists from multiple disciplines. We invite you to add your event to the Global Map. Our theme for #GWB2025 is “Accelerating Equity in Science” in support of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ). Event organizers are encouraged to incorporate aspects of quantum science and technology into their programs and to invite participants working in quantum-related topics to participate. Add your event to the Global Map today. STEP 1: Create an organizer account at https://lnkd.in/ey7wEar2 STEP 2: Log into your organizer account. If you have registered previously, your username and password have not changed. If you need to reset your password, you can do that. STEP 3: Click on “Add New 2025 Event”. Multiple events may be registered under one account. STEP 4: Fill out your event information and click submit. STEP 5: Click on “View” to review your event page. Click on “Edit” to make changes at any time. #IYQ2025 #GWB2025 American Chemical Society Royal Society of Chemistry Javier Garcia Martinez The Royal Australian Chemical Institute

A significant aspect of IUPAC‘s role as the standards organisation for chemistry is often overlooked: standards exist in many languages, not just English! A key part of our work is to translate our standards into other languages and our latest project is a brand-new translation of the Periodic Table into Italian. With a big thanks to Matteo Guidotti and his colleagues 🙏. Read more below!

Carmen, you are so right, thanks for sharing! Interoperability, and therefore standards, is where it all begins if we want to make the most of our data. This principle also forms the core of IUPAC‘s work.

And #IUPAC was a part of it! Thank you to Leah McEwen and Fatima Mustafa, Ph.D. who were the driving forces behind this endeavour. Looking forward to seeing what WorldFAIR+ will bring.

The ISC Affiliated Body CODATA has successfully completed its flagship initiative, WorldFAIR! This initiative has produced policy recommendations, diverse case studies, and further guidance to advance the vision of #FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) #data. A follow-up project, WorldFAIR+, is planned to sustain and expand upon this legacy. ➡️ Learn more about the WorldFAIR project: https://lnkd.in/eqc8K6w3
