Congratulations to IWF Connecticut member Laura Grondin for being selected as Vice President of the US Sailing Board of Directors for 2024. US Sailing is the National Governing Body for the sport of sailing in the United States. Laura Grondin is a distinguished business leader and an accomplished sailor. As the Owner and CEO of Bingham & Taylor, and Hartford Technologies since 1999, she has guided her companies with strategic insight and industry expertise. Laura Grondin is an active member of Vistage Worldwide, Inc., an international organization for CEOs, and brings her leadership skills to the sailing community as Chair of the International Melges 24 Class Association. Her volunteer leadership spans numerous roles, including serving on the Board of Trustees at Bay Path University and as past chair of several influential organizations. A world-class sailor, Laura has earned top finishes at major events, including 3rd place at the 2023 and 2021 J/70 Worlds and multiple nominations for the prestigious Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year award. Glendowlyn Thames is on the Amazon’s Global Economic Development team as the Head of Economic Development for the States of CT, MD and NY. She is responsible for delivering value and assistance to Amazon business verticals and its affiliates such as entry to market strategy, public-private partnerships, public policy advocacy, and expansion efforts to name a few. Prior to joining Amazon, Glendowlyn Thames led an intentional career in the public sector for over 15 years. More recently, Glen served as Deputy Commissioner, COO & CFO for the CT Department of Economic and Community Development and was founding Executive Director of CTNext, LLC. She received the 2022 CT Woman’s Business Development Council’s Impact Award and a recipient of the NAACP 100 Most Influential Blacks in Connecticut.
