We will be welcoming 4 new AmeriCorps members next week to serve as our Family and School Liaisons. Improving student outcomes for social emotional health and literacy development takes a village and we're thankful to be adding to ours. Special shout out to Sara Hannah and Shelly Daugherty for taking the lead on this!

The The Wallace Foundation has helped to guide the work that I Would Rather Be Reading does in our out of school time programming. Check out what our Data & Storytelling Committee has done this year!

I came across this article from the The Wallace Foundation. What a great read! One of the key takeaways that was outlined was the need for the impactful use of data sharing to make programmatic decisions and report outcomes. In January of 2024, I Would Rather Be Reading established a Data & Storytelling Committee. We've worked to analyze our summer and after school literacy and social emotional learning data, created reports for invested groups, and implemented a data platform for use in the coming school year. I would like to thank Tracy Ashford, Keenan Burke, Roniqua Jeffries, and Sara Hannah for their tireless work in helping us get our data health in excellent shape!

I Would Rather Be Reading reposted this
Team member shoutout!! Sara Hannah has continued to increase our impact on children by partnering with school leadership to plan micro-programming days. Yesterday was our first Multi-lingual Family Day at Kerrick Elementary Students who attended engaged in an I Would Rather Be Reading Mindful Literacy activity, while Kerrick staff provided families with resources for the school year. Black Italian kept everyone’s belly full with a delicious meal (always a crowd pleaser)! We’re looking forward to a great school year of fun and literacy growth with our Kerrick kids! Sky's the Limit at I Would Rather Be Reading!
Exciting Times at I Would Rather Be Reading! Our students are reaching new heights with the Sky's the Limit Camp in partnership with Equus Flight Academy, Conway Middle School, and Rise Education! 🚀✈️ They had an amazing day diving into the world of aviation, starting with an inspiring talk from Meteorologist Brian Neudorff. He shared his passion for weather and its crucial role in aviation. 🌦️🌪️ These innovators spent the afternoon designing and engineering their own hot air balloons and are gearing up for the Sky's the Limit Balloon Glow Activity, where they'll proudly display their creations. We are so proud of their creativity and enthusiasm! 🌟✨ Thank you to Ebony Matlock-bartee, Shannon Weidekamp, and Tim Peace for helping us bring this vision to reality! #STEMEducation #Aviation #HotAirBalloons #Meteorology #InnovativeLearning #FutureEngineers #SkysTheLimit 🚀🎈
