For 22 years, John Spencer has been a cornerstone of Simplot’s Vernal Mine, serving with unwavering dedication as the Environmental Manager. He currently oversees over a dozen licenses and permits for Vernal. His commitment to the Company’s success is evident in his steadfast efforts to ensure sustainable and responsible mining practices that will benefit Simplot for generations to come. John values Simplot’s safety culture and innovative approach to solving problems. With the help of John and many others at Vernal, Simplot’s Vernal Mine has over one hundred years of reserves.

Last month, Simplot hosted its annual Espacios Cultivables event in Mexico City with strategic distributors in the region! For three days, our team in Mexico worked alongside our strategic partners to foster mutual growth. Knowledge was shared, insights were gained, and bonds were strengthened throughout the event. Thank you to our team in Mexico for going above and beyond to enrich our partner relationships in the Northern LATAM market!

At last month's NAFDA Foodservice Awards in Australia, Simplot Foodservice was honored to receive awards for 2024 Supplier of the Year Over $5M and 2024 Overall Supplier of the Year. This is the second year in a row that Simplot has won these awards! Congratulations to the team for all their hard work toward this achievement!

That’s a wrap, Summer Interns! The summer session has officially come to a close, and we couldn’t be prouder of the Simplot Intern Class of 2024. Their energy, creativity and passion lit up our offices, labs and fields across the U.S. and Canada. From Land & Livestock to Global Services, AgriBusiness, and Global Food, our interns dove into projects and brought fresh ideas and new perspectives that made a real difference. Their dedication and enthusiasm left a lasting impact on our teams and the work we do to feed the world. Did you know that in addition to helping feed the world, Simplot helps protect our landscapes by helping suppress wildfires? Simplot manufactures a crucial ingredient in the fire retardant used to combat wildfires across most U.S. states and throughout Western Canada. The U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and their Canadian counterparts rely on this retardant, deploying it from planes to battle fires and keep our forests safe!

Today, we honor the strength, bravery, and perseverance of everyone impacted by 9/11. We remember the bravery of the first responders and the resilience of the survivors. We will never forget those we lost nor those who continue to fight for our freedom.

If you have been to Boise, Idaho there is a chance you have seen our Global Headquarters. It's more than just an office- it's where our history is honored, and innovation begins! Discover some fun facts about the place we call home! -The building was built with sustainability in mind. It is heated entirely by geothermal energy and the cafeteria features chairs made from 100% recycled Coke bottles! -The shades on all windows adjust automatically based on the location of the sun and light sensors throughout the building automatically adjust the lighting to maintain a constant 35 lumens of light. Because of the natural light, sensors, and LED lighting, the building uses approximately 35 percent less energy than traditional office spaces with lower ceilings and fewer windows! -Most wood furniture throughout the building is made from reclaimed tongue and groove boards from our potato processing plant in Caldwell, Idaho. Also, all the exterior windows in the Simplot Boise Headquarters are made from silica sand mined in Overton. These touches help honor the work that our company does while merging the past with the present!
