Congratulations to Bruno Giaccio, CEO of MetroMultimedia, for receiving the 2024 King’s Glove Award! NYIAEE presented the award to Bruno yesterday during a luncheon at the beautiful River Pavilion while he was surrounded by his industry peers, friends and family. The King’s Glove is presented to NYIAEE members who have made a major impact on the exposition industry. The NYIAEE King’s Glove Award is cast in bronze and encased in glass with the names of previous winners – including Javits Center CEO Alan Steel – and is displayed in the North Javits Atrium. 

Yesterday was our Years of Service luncheon for Javits employees celebrating their work anniversaries for their 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 30th years. Of the 53 employees celebrating, over half were celebrating their 20th anniversary or higher – a testament to the positive environment and investment Javits makes in our staff. We are proud to not only be fulfilling our mission to bring job opportunities to New York but to be a place where people can build a career. Congratulations to those celebrating! 

What a fun memory from our King’s Glove Award ceremony in 2014 when NYIAEE honored Alan Steel for his incredible contributions to the trade show industry. Ten years later we return to the River Pavilion at Javits Center to honor Bruno Giaccio of MetroMultimedia with this year’s King’s Glove Award. We can’t wait to celebrate with the chapter this Thursday! We’ll see you there.

The Sustainable Events Summit will recognize Alan Steel, CEO of Javits Center, with the first Zero Award for Excellence and Innovation in Sustainability. The TCS New York City Marathon Expo opens today. The 50,000 runners competing in this year’s race will come to the Javits Center to pick up their bibs and race day materials – including Javits’ own Pearl Liang! Pearl is running the marathon for the 9th time and, though she joined the Javits legal team in 2023, the Center has always been part of her marathon journey: “Ever since the first year I came to the Javits Center to pick up my bib at the NYC Marathon expo, I remember thinking to myself, ‘I wish I could work here and go behind the scenes.’ Never in a million years would I guess that this would actually happen – just goes to show you, never say never.” Good luck to Pearl and everyone running this weekend!

The Crystal Palace creates a grand entrance for every event that takes place at Javits Center! The soaring 15-story structure is made of steel and glass - creating a welcoming and bright first impression for guests and giving people walking by the opportunity to see what’s happening at the busiest convention center in the United States. Fun fact: all 6,000 panels of glass in the Crystal Palace are made of bird-friendly glass, which has reduced bird collisions at Javits by more than 90%
