This September at Javits Center, the co-located events, COTERIE, MAGIC and SOURCING at MAGIC, observed nearly a 9% increase in purchasing buyers compared to September 2023 and around 3% growth from the February 2024 season. At the September 2024 event, the show floor held more than 950 brands and international brands made up over 40% of the floor. Javits Center's mission is to serve as an economic engine for the community by bringing in events that attract attendees to New York who will stay in hotels and eat at local restaurants. These B2B events play an important role in us achieving our mission. Read more about the successful September events and when you can expect these events to return here: https://lnkd.in/ghCAVfwi

Over the past 10 months, we have been collecting soft plastics and today we’re proud to say 21 bales of material were picked up by NexTrex to be recycled and converted into decking material! This is part of Javits Center’s ongoing commitment to improving our waste diversion rate - and happened just in time for The Nest Climate Campus! #sustainability #climateweeknyc

Javits is more than just a convention center! We are also a wildlife sanctuary due to the incredible rooftop habitats, including our 6.75-acre green roof, our one-acre rooftop farm and nine beehives. Our green roof is home to hundreds of herring gull nests in season. NYC Bird Alliance monitors the herring gull population to gather data on migration patterns. NYC Bird Alliance has also spotted 70 different species and all five species of bats native to New York on our rooftop! Farmers from Brooklyn Grange maintain the multiple pollinator gardens on our one-acre rooftop farm. These gardens are essential to native pollinators in the urban landscape of NYC! Our nine beehives each house up to 80,000 bees per hive! Astor Apiaries monitor the health of the hive and leads responsible honey harvests, which is used in our in-house catering. Fun Fact: September is National Honey Month! #sustainability #ClimateWeekNYC

Two special guests arrived in NYC for Climate Week! NYC Bird Alliance spotted two new species of birds on the Javits Center green roof – bringing the total up to 70 species that now utilize the roof! Since Javits Center’s green roof opened in 2014, it has served as a haven for migrating birds and provided essential habitat as urbanization overtook green space within the city. The increasing number of species spotted at Javits demonstrate how important this 6.75-acre green roof is to our ecosystem.
