PVD Coatings PVD coatings are critical to the performance of our taps and over 90% of the taps we sell have some type of PVD coating. Delivery is also critical, so we are pleased to have Oerlikon providing a daily van to pick-up and deliver our taps. ♻️ Recycling the steel ♻️ Happy to work with Joe Harding and Harding Metals, Inc. to recycle our steel. We keep the solids (bar ends) separate by steel grade and all the chips are just combined. Just another way we work to keep stuff out of the landfill!

♻ Recycling at its best! ♻ The Dondero Elementary School (https://lnkd.in/enSWZvhz) has some trails in the woods that become muddy in the Spring and Fall. Rebecca Jarvis and family figured this would be a perfect way to recycle the boxes provided by our steel suppliers. And they were right! The school is happy, the kid's shoes are cleaner, and the boxes did not go to a landfill. Challenge is out to Mark Mullen at Griggs Steel Company, Kevin Kowalik at Erasteel, or Cres Medley at voestalpine BÖHLER Edelstahl GmbH & Co KG to find a better way to recycle their steel boxes.

Jarvis Cutting Tools has moved to the cloud. As part of our ongoing effort to improve our internal processes, Jarvis has moved our ERP system to the cloud. This will allow improved data security and, at the same time, provide our hybrid and remote workforce improved access. Many thanks to Peter Boers and WM Synergy for their support.

This has happened us as well. Someone sent us a photo of our tool and complained about its performance. No shock - we did not make the tools. Someone made some taps and then tried to copy our marking.
We don’t have an office in China, but we learned that someone is selling a knock off PG1000 system under our name. They even have our website listed on their company sign! Should I say “Unbelievable??? WTF!!!” Unfortunately this happens routinely in China and all we can say is “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. #PG1000 #MADEINUSA

Manufacturing is about managing the unexpected. Here is a screenshot from our fancy internal camera from Sunday night. That big glow on the right is one of our wash systems on fire. It's the worst commute in the world when you receive a call that there is a fire in the building; you do not know what you will find. All the systems worked as planned. Four sprinkler heads went off and put out the fire. The fire happened about one hour before 3rd shift started, so (after the fire was out) our great 3rd shift staffed a bunch of shop-vacs and cleaned up all the water. By about 3:30 AM the factory was pretty clean. Our sprinkler service group is on a 24 hour alert and was in the building Monday morning to re-engaged the system. We were able to start production again by 2nd shift Monday. We post lots of images of our tools but there is much more behind them. People, support systems, and experience all go into being Jarvis Cutting Tools.

January 10, 1948 - we were 47 years old back then.
January 10, 1948 Yup, the date is correct. Here is our weekly financial update from that week. Amazingly Wrentham Tool Group, a Phillips Screw Company Affiliate is still around. I hope they spent the $578.02 wisely. I challenge either Gordon Scott or Scott Filion to find the original invoice. Game on! It can be real fun looking through Jarvis Cutting Tools archives.
