The Japanese government aims to increase the cashless payment ratio to approximately 40% by June 2025. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry reported that the cashless payment ratio in 2023 reached 39.3%. Even in Japan, where cash payments are deeply ingrained, public awareness is shifting, and more people are becoming comfortable using credit cards.
